Re: Foam OR No Foam?

When we first entered the US market our small boats were exempt from foam but a reclassification has changed this and made life a lot harder. We were classified as an inflatable I believe, now not. It is part of the reason we don't market as many sub 20 foot hulls up your way. We have used 2-part fo...

Re: Stabicraft 2880 Pilot House

Here's a question: I know Stabicraft is made in New Zealand. I understand there is some assembly here in the US. Does that make it a US vessel? The reason I ask is in the back of my head I might want to retire in a few years so I was thinking of trying to set up my play boat as commercial tuna. Not...

No, neither had a stand up head. We have done them but they are not popular down under. Another forum member (DwayneJ) has one on his 829 GIII. I personally wont be at the show, I go to the Aus and NZ shows but our MD (and founder) goes to Seattle. He will be there for the last couple of days suppor...

And I saw this one pop up in Everett... Will it be at the show? http://www.boatcountry.com/pre_owned_detail.asp?sid=07541315X1K23K2013J7I34I00JAMQ6442R0&veh=3057917&nv=y Sure will be. I'm not sure if the yellow 2880 will be there as it is a sold (customer owned) boat. We did a few things di...

The internet hates me again. Jettywolf (or Welder), you know, what did I do wrong below? I am trying to add a video like you do, just the video box, not a silly link. http://youtu.be/zDCs0-z_Mv0 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zDCs0-z_Mv0 <iframe width="640" height="360" src=&quo...

That's the spirit. If you miss him, give Marty or one of the sales team the same message. There is nothing more powerful than the customers voice.

Re: 18.5' Stabicraft Supercab

I should have remembered this thread. Sorry about that. To be honest, I'm not confident it will make it to the US in the short term. The major issue is cost. The way the exchange rate is and taking into account the cost of shipping it looks like it may stay down under. Its a shame as it is a compact...

Re: New Propulsion System...

Tim Propulsion system looks promising, is there plans to take this commercial as viable alternative to I/O. Could be a market for someone looking into a better system then sticking a leg out of the transom, or a more reliable system than that. If I did find a decent alternative for my rebuild I wou...

Not from me Welder. To be honest, I have been dealing with a lot of in-house stuff for the last few months so haven't spoken to Barry in a while. Last I did they were working with the gearboxes and trialling new things. My understanding is they have had a great deal of interest, some local, some off...

Re: Aluminum Pilothouse in action video

I like it.

Its easy to watch a few minutes on-line but its takes a lot to get it there.
Its not easy (or cheap) to get something like that made and its not something the marine industry has jumped on so well done.

I'll watch more

Tim.

I've been searching as I need one too......AND ALL I've seen and held seem cheezy. Either pot metal, too much plastic, or just plain filmsy. Searching Google for a picture is one thing. in the hand is another. Yup, thats what we have been seeing. I'll let you know how we get on. The hull is in buil...

Manual wiper

Guys, I just told one of product developers that I know a guy that knows a guy that will know a guy who does good manual wipers... The boss is having a new 21foot console boat designed/built and wants to keep it simple with a manual windscreen wiper. Anyone know a good example or supplier? Thanks, T...

Re: New Propulsion System...

The Vic coast guard boats are smaller. The biggest we have sent lately was a 9.2m running twin BF250's. It weighs a lot less than the 10.2. Off hand it came in at around 3200kg so around half the 10.2's weight. I might be able to find the figures if you want? Honda were particularly interested in th...

Re: New Propulsion System...

Barry actually gave me these numbers a while back but I have been too busy to post them up. The boat was fully fuelled, 2 up. Weight would have been around 8000kg. RPM --- Knots --- Lph --- L/nm 1200 --- 5.99 --- 7.3 --- 1.21 1540 --- 7.82 --- 17.2 --- 2.2 1800 --- 9.5 --- 28 --- 2.94 2000 --- 10 --...

We use a range from a company based here Ultralon. They heat stamp patterns in to closed cell foams and apply a 3M adhesive to the backing. We like it as its softer on hands, knees, ladies... In particular we use their Octitread witch is one of their more dense foams. It is an NZ company which might...

Can you get open top service there Tim? What with that industry sucking wind right along with us air cargo folks and the fact that I've been away just long enough to loose contact with the prevailing rates and transits available just thought I would ask. That 2880 has enough cockpit room to square ...

Post up some photos of it, I might be able to identify it. ACB went under not because they had a bad product. They were (still are) pretty good. It was unfortunate that they couldn't keep it together - from what I personally know, they had some good contracts but didn't manage to turn them into prof...

Hey Tim: Have you been on the boat for a test of reverse? I think you said that the gearbox has a reverse drive. Excuse my lack of technical knowledge, but does that mean water gets sucked up the back end and pushed out the forward intake to move the boat in reverse? And if so, how do you steer in ...

Re: New Propulsion System...

Reverse is still up in the air The gear boxes are built with reverse drive. The current boat works well but the guys have already learnt the set up (height) is not ideal for the hull. More will come as it is discovered, validated or rejected - innovation at its best. By the way, it's pretty importa...

That's the hope. At least one dealer is keen right now. Hopefully more soon.
