Re: 40hp 4stroke, enough?

Thanks everyone. I scarped the 40hp and bought a 60hp 4stroke. I am tapped-out of money and those 70hp+ aren't cheap. I will be doing most my fishing in the lakes but occasionally do some Hoop Netting and maybe twice a years run to Coronado or Catalina Island. I'm not a Speed Demon just a Che...

40hp 4stroke, enough?

Well I bought a 1989 21' Valco Bayrunner from a gent in NoCal I found off BloodyDecks.com. for $5000. It came with a 1988 Evinrude 90hp 2stroke. I'm worried about the age of the motor, reliability and efficiency. I have my eye on a Mercury 40hp as the cost is reasonable. Would 40hp on this boat be w...

Re: a 1969 Boston Whaler Montauk or a 1988 18' Bayrunner?

Thanks ILLGOTOO ,you made my mind up for me. I don't want to deal with NON ALLOY. I also did some more research and the Bayrunner is much lighter which is an issue with me as I'm using a lite duty vehicle. Thanks Again, Eddie

a 1969 Boston Whaler Montauk or a 1988 18' Bayrunner?

I just received the opportunity to buy a 1969 17' Boston whaler Montauk. I had my eye on the 1988 18' Bayrunner. I posted the last topic and since then found this Montauk. Any opinions? The seller of the Whaler insists its the cream of the crop? Again, I'm looking for a lite (pull with small vehicle...

18' bayrunner question

Hello, I'm interested in purchasing a 1988 18' Bayrunner for a $4200. I'm pulling sofa cushions trying to muster up the money. Before I drop my life saving, I want to know if its versatile enough for local lake fishing and occasional harbor/coastal fishing. The owner claims the boat has only been in...
