Re: SeaStar Hydraulic maintenance

I learned the hard way that failure to keep the motor cylinder components greased will turn into a big problem. I discovered mine when my motor was tilting slower. The aluminum end components on they cylinder and the stainless pivot shafts on the motor mount siezed and were nearly impossible to sepa...

Re: Hull Pitting Under Trailer Bunks

Does this only occur when the boat/trailer are used in salt water? I'm looking into a new Pacific and would be using it in fresh water (Lake Erie). I've owned both roller and bunk trailers in the past and would prefer a bunk. Thanks, Jeff I have pitting on the bottom of mine, as well as a friend th...

Re: Is there a US market for this boat?

Definately looks like a fair weather boat if used in the PNW. Optimal for the Puget sound if someone wants an aluminum boat to use here.
When will the fuel consumption numbers be available?

Me tryin to match John at fishing is like me in the gerbil wheel, just aint gonna get anywhere with that one. I like the encouragement though, and can't wait to get my boat back in the water and try to catch him again :). Jetty, last time I went halibut fishing the person who took me (Ivan), well he...

Re: Props are not Safe.

Holy cow Lester, I can see why you have the perception that people are common sense challenged. I can see also how it looks as though the injured are trying to get money from manufacturers. Maybe they are. I think also that people are trying to get manufacturers to re-design their products so they a...

Re: Props are not Safe.

Thanks Bevan for that enlightening reply. Personally, I feel you are addressing what I feel is the most effective means to reduce boating accidents, giving the boat owner an opportunity to gain experience in a safe way. Obviously, if any of the boat operators in the forementioned accidents knew thei...

Re: Props are not Safe.

Ok then, I have a prop gaurd on my kicker as well. Not on my main. And I pulled my draws out of my butt. Regarding my main and prop gaurds: I was in a situation a few years ago where a family of three, an adult male & female and a teen female, dumped their rented canoe in the cutt (they rented i...

Re: Props are not Safe.

Polywave I can't tell from the pics, but do you run a prop or jet on your boat? Do YOU have a prop guard on the main? I have one on my kicker, but that is to keep the lines, not my clients, out of the prop. :rotfl: It's apparent to me that you just want to play some kind of game. You said you can't...

Re: LaPush

John I'm jealous. That looks like awsome fishing. Worth every calorie to get one of those halibuts to the surface. The harness is a good idea (I own one myself). I remember when someone on my boat hurt themselves doing the man up thing, whined the rest of the trip. A smart fisherman will use the rig...

Re: Props are not Safe.

Perhaps you do not realize that even with a guard, someone can be injured by a propeller. You can only do so much to protect people, then personal responsibility comes into play. You can shield a prop until a person cannot get their little finger into it, but then it will not work for its intended ...

Re: Props are not Safe.

I agree with the outcome of the lawsuit. I look at it this way. Say you have children, teenagers. And they come to my paintball business and ask me to rent them some paintball guns. I say sure, here's some ammo for that paint ball gun. And then I say to them, go on out in the arena and start shootin...

Re: The Polywave Roof Remodel

Hi Tim, I had a Duckworth once that totally lacked any fishing functionality. So I welded up a small frame out of some C-channel and a plate, and glued some cork to it that I found at a local hardware store. It turned out pretty handy for storing hooks and lures. I plan on making another for my ACB,...

Re: Props are not Safe.

Props are NOT safe. They are UNSAFE. Pointing out the fact that something else is unsafe also does not make props safe. It is wrong for someone to provide people with products that can do great bodily harm to them without taking reasonable precautions to protect them . Prop gaurds are a reasonable p...

Re: The Polywave Roof Remodel

Submitted drawings for the roof parts this week. Was turned down by the first sheetmetal shop, their press brake can do up to 90" and I have some bent edges at 128". Called a second shop today (Alaskan Copper & Brass in Seattle) and they said they can do it. But they'll have to use a h...

The Polywave Roof Remodel

I purchased a 22' ACB in Bellingham in 2002. It's their first prototype, sold to a guy from Montana who wanted to start a guide service in Alaska. But by the time the guide showed up to purchase it, ACB was licensed to build 26' boats (up from 22') and the guide refused to take delivery of mine. I s...

Re: How do I fix these cracks?

Just thought I would toss in my 2 cents. Not only do I see a load placed on the grab rail by the cabin in the port-starboard direction, but I expect a rather substantial load is placed on the grab rails in the fore-aft direction when someone uses them to get into or out of the boat. I would remove t...

Re: Here's a surprising thing

Well, an anti-chatter module arrived today. I agree Wolf, the hydraulic line/couplings they sent with it pretty much suck! I think I'll head over to my local hydraulic shop and have some REAL hydraulic lines made. Installing the anti-chatter module kind of fits in with my remodel as I need to extend...

Re: Here's a surprising thing

Hi Jettywolf, I contacted Teleflex Canada and spoke with one of their tech support guys. He's gonna send me something, not sure if it's a new set of valves for my BayStar, or if it's an anti-chatter valve. I won't be able to try it out for quite some time because I'm remodeling the roof and windshie...

Re: Here's a surprising thing

Hey Wolf, I have the same helm you do. Mine chatters too, and I'm not 100% sure, but I think I may have caught it moving a little on me too when I was under way. For comparison, can you tell me how much Teleflex charged for that anti-chatter thingy? I may or may not get one, the chatter is a little ...
