Re: Cope Winter Harbour Build Complete

hip, nice boat and love your state. My wife and I just got back from Haleiwa where we stayed for a long week on our 25th anniversary. I stayed in a home right by the harbor. I got several pics of a LAConner Boat Works alloy boat that was used for crab fishing. Spoke to the fisherman/owner a couple o...

Thanks welderbob! I'm not sure on how much alum or what size I was going to need so I just threw out some sizes to see what prices are at. welder I figured the excess will be used up elsewhere on the skiff.

Re: Net Skiff Build

So the 2" camber will be o.k. ? I also spoke to a friend today who I get rebar to make my anchors . While bs'ing I told him of my skiff in progress build. He said he had a really good hook up on sheet aluminum. I had him to call in for a quote on 20'x72" 5086 3/16 bottom 20'x60" 5086 ...

Re: Net Skiff Build

Kevin I went to order a flexible batten and searched for it through google. Upon searching it brought me to several boat building web sites. Alot of guys suggested using wood strips. If you or someone else could suggest a web site to order a batten I will be happy to get it on the way. However I jus...

Re: Net Skiff Build

Kevin, thanks for making the info more clear. I was hung up on the sheer. chine and keel lines as a whole. I knew what each was however when it comes time to putting the lines on paper in boat form I'm stumped. Figuring I will have a 30" side on my skiff and using 1" to 1' scale I can put ...

Re: Okuma Born to Fish babies

Is those pictures not funny?? I sent the link to my daughter who loves to fish with her dad and she said she wanted one too. I do not have any tattoo's and I told my wife I would get that tattoo on my back. Just joking but "I was Born to Fish" Stabi I appreciate the offer however I figure ...

Re: Net Skiff Build

Kevin, I have been studying your words for a couple days. I have not figured out what is meant by sheer. I looked up the definition and I believe its the shape of the boat using the bottom and top lines=sheer. Is that correct? The links you provided with the different boats shapes I see easily. The ...

Re: Net Skiff Build

Kevin you mentioned that the bigger the scale the better. With these guys I work with what would be a good scale for me to suggest to them? I took drafting in high school and have a idea of whats going on here but by no means am I a draftsman.

Re: Net Skiff Build

Kevin, in regards to the bottom and cross section/body plan, I would like to go with a happy medium + for running rough water. Since I already have a flat bottom net boat I'm thinking the four/five inch would most likely be middle of the road. Am I thinking correctly? Tracy, those hoop nets are what...

Re: Net Skiff Build

Tracy I'm looking at 20-24'. I'm not locked in on length however a 20' with 2' extended motor bracket would fill the bill. I'm hoping you guys will be able to tell me what is the best length so I don't box myself in. Around twenty feet or so.

Re: Net Skiff Build

Kevin, I will put angle on the bottom as hull stiffeners. Since I rarely beach the boat, I plan to use at least two hull stiffeners from angle. I currently have two on my plate boat, and she steers fine and does not slide. My partner has a boat similar to mine with no stiffeners or mini keels, and h...

Re: Net Skiff Build

I fish the Ohio and Wabash Rivers here in Southern Indiana. I live about ten mins from Kentucky and forty mins from Illinois. Re: build question

Found me a place to cut the boat pieces out. What is the difference between 5083 and 5086? This boat will not be used in salt water only fresh water. My buddy in Louisiana is a purchasing agent for a large company. He spoke to one of their suppliers about my boat project and aluminum prices. They qu...
