Hey Guys,
If you've read "Boatbuilding with Aluminum" by Stephen F Pollard you're familiar with Specmar Boats as it's his company. If you haven't read it, you owe it to yourself as a fan of aluminum boats. Many folks here in the Pacific NW consider him one of the best designers around.

Ding, ding, ding, somebody buy that man with the good memory a cigar!

Boat was originally powered by a Suzuki 140, but Crabby wanted more power.

He's retiring to Costa Rica and wants to get something down there. Poor guy!!

Edwing Ocean 23

Posting this link for a friend on another board. This is a really tuna killer. Chaps has an Ed Wing as well and these boats are indestructible!

You can order plans that can be sent to a CNC or water jet cutter directly from Stephen F. Pollard (author of Boatbuilding with Aluminum and considered by many to be one of the best aluminum designers around) directly from his company in Scapoose, Oregon. Their website address is: http://www.specmar...

This can be a more important issue than folks realize. What might seem heavy to me is a piece of flotsom to seawater. A couple of hundred pound cooler is a deadly battering ram once the water gets a hold of it. A couple of years ago, a windshield boat with an open bow (Alumaweld Intruder or Formula ...

Riptide,
That is one beautiful boat!! If your boat and Peterbo3s boat are typical examples of Aussie plate boat building I may have to fly down to pick up my next ride. Really beautiful work and lots of innovative ideas!

Hey guys, I fish the north part of Vancover Island a bit north of where Eaglecrafts are made in Campbell River. Without a doubt they are they are the boat of choice in the area. Some of the most violent water you will find anywhere is a stones throw from there between the northern coast of Vanc Isla...

Jettywolf,
Do you have any experience fishing in the Indian River Lagoon or the ICW? I've heard there are some good mangrove areas in there that are loaded with snook and baby tarpon. Have any recommendations for someone to spend a half day trip with in that area?

I love this site!

Those log broncs are amazing. You'd be surprised how far they extend down into the water. We found a couple that were stuck in the mud and abandoned at a mill that we were cleaning up and it almost tipped a big crane trying to lift them out. Definitely part of a bygone era in the Pacific NW. DDog

I always make a template out of cardboard before cutting holes in my boat. Both for the size of the hole and the location.

Swing by an appliance store and scrounge up some old appliance boxes for large pieces.

And yes, I learned to do this the hard way....

Jettywolf, There's lots of aluminum river boats made on the west coast that run a tiller in lenghts from 16'-25'. Alumaweld, Willie Boats, Koffler, North River, Wooldrich, Bentz, Idaho Boats, and a bunch of others make boats that would be right up your alley. Most of the salmon/steelhead guides run ...

Thanks for the welcome! I see the tutorial now so I'll get some pictures uploaded soon. My boat quiver is down to just the drifter right now so it's not all that thrilling. A friend of mine has a 32' Maxcat and that boat is really amazing. He's still running comfortably at 25 knots when everyone else is slugging it out with big wind waves and bigger swell conditions. His has twin diesels with hamilton jets so we never bring up the words "fuel economy" unless ...

Bend to LA? That would hurt. It's a great place to live with the only drawback being a 5 hour trip across two mountain ranges to get to the saltwater. There's lots of good freshwater fishing nearby, but it's just not the same thing. Right now the best of the lakes are under about 10' of snow in the ...

New Member from Oregon

Just wanted to take a second to introduce myself. I'm an alloy boat junkie from the high desert here in Oregon. I've owned several west coast boats (Duckworth, Koffler, Hewescraft, Almar) and I'm currently looking for another. I fish both fresh and saltwater in Oregon, Washington, BC, and Mexico whe...
