Re: My third AA boat

Sjoman, Emmy Lou is as pretty as her name sake, the finest voice in country music, and she looks well designed. Nicely proportional lines, and a few construction details that really catch my eye. Her hull stiffeners are tapered! I just did a post on this build method and remarked how nice it looks ...

My third AA boat

I started out with a 19' Pacific with twin 75's. Nice boat but I am not a CC kind a guy. Moved to a 21' SeaArk commander, did some retrofitting and made it in to just about the perfect trailer boat for my taste (it's for sale). Then I found "Emmy" a 26' Sound Craft. Could not be happier. Y...

Re: Cockpit space and offshore brackets

4 weeks after the project started we (Kyle) is making good progress. Just some final welding on the bracket and in the cockpit, slap on some paint and we are done. I am trying to talk him in to a fish-box in the floor since we are moving the fuel tank forward 24" and will have plenty of room. A...

Re: Cockpit space and offshore brackets

Thanks Chaps, highly appreciate your input. I will set the motor 3" above previous height with the option to raise it some more. I always thought it was low in the original slop-well, as per picture. While I'm at it the fuel tank will be moved 18" forward to help the weight distribution.

Re: Cockpit space and offshore brackets

I am moving the motor back 30" and raising it 4". I have read on previous posts that you can/should raise it 1 1/2 " for every foot you move it back... Opinions I'm not so sure that applies to engines mounted on full flotation brackets like the one you are building as opposed to the ...

Re: Cockpit space and offshore brackets

Dang, do-overs happen! You are into it now but did you consider trying ball scuppers to control water ingress? Or were you having other issues related to the slop well? It’s sort of a long and kind of embarrassing story. Short version is that we made some design errors causing the boat to take on w...

Re: Cockpit space and offshore brackets

So it has been over a year since I posted anything on AAB. The rebuild of my SeaArk was nothing but positive and we enjoyed a great fishing season on the Puget Sound. However, there were some issues with the slop-well that I had to deal with and after long deliberation we decided to put on an off-sh...

Yes the thingy is a D bumper bolted to the hull. This was a big selling feature for me since I'm such a klutz at docking :)

Re: Cockpit space and offshore brackets

I put on the hull stiffener so we could pull out some indentations that we think was created at the factory level. It will also help to protect the paint when docking since I'm such a klutz. In addition I think it gives the “Ark” a pretty cool look.

Re: Cockpit space and offshore brackets

This is a slow and very frustrating re-build, but slowly things are coming together. New hull stiffener, bow rails, kicker bracket and swim step are the latest additions. Completion including paint is set for July 1st but I have my doubts. I hope it gets done in time for King season specially since ...

Re: Rookie propper

Tom W. Clark who posts a lot on several Boston Whaler sites helped me out with some prop issues on my twin 1925 Pacific. He is located in Seattle, I don't have his e-mail but if you do a search on the Whaler sites you will find him. The guy is sorta a guru when it comes to prop selection.

Re: Cockpit space and offshore brackets

So it has been decided and the project has started. I will go with a larger cockpit area and a very small slop-well, with a door towards the cockpit so we can tilt the motor all the way up and still make the well as small as possible. While we are at it, paint is on the agenda (light gray hull, blac...

Re: 21' Munson on GSA auction

GSA auctions blow me away, I buy a 21' SeaArk Commander for 16K and this one sells for 35K ??. I was bidding on this boat and not at all disappointed to be outbid at 12K.
