Does new aluminum need to be treated with alumiprep/alodine (or similar) before applying coal tar epoxy?

The tabs you see are to connect the two tanks together. I have yet to have the other tabs welded on.

I actually don't have an alloy boat, but have been in need of some alloy related advice. A member on another board said nice things about you all and told me I should check out the forum ... looks nice! Wish I did have an alloy boat, I really like the looks of them.
