I like the way the motor is sitting in theregards much much better. Everything is bolted down and the alinement is withing 2thousandths. I'm just waiting on ...

How about a dog on my last boat? She didn't make it out on this one yet. http://i159.photobucket.com/albums/t153/joshbuck_88/B2F18C56-068B-420E-9033-B873AEA94C99-6080-000001BAABD76002_zps3103a25d.jpg A pic from summer. http://i159.photobucket.com/albums/t153/joshbuck_88/5782FB9C-870D-4793-9777-C7E5F...

Re: Non-Alloy boat Repower

It's a semi dsiplacement, so I'm hoping for a 14-15kt cruise with a top end somewhere around 18-20kts. I ended up going with a different yard, Hatton came out to look at my boat and we agreed to the number of man hours to complete it. Then I recieved their written quote back and it was still $70k, t...

If I could stretch my budget to $6,500 I would just order one of these.

Yeah, I was there today looking at them. That is where I seen that Marlon. I also talked to chad crozier about building a skiff, but i think I would get into trouble from the wifey.

Re: Marlon Utility boat?

Not sure, I'd guess somewhere in there though. Felt fairly solid pounding on the sides and bottom. The floor was covered so I could see any of the bracing on the hull though.

Non-Alloy boat Repower

I know it's Glass boat, but I still have a different aluminum so I'm still part of the club. It's a 29' Dyer raised deck offshore model. I picked it up in July and put Over 400hrs on it, it takes the weather amazing BTW. Anyways it had a ISUZU 6 BD1 125hp which topped out at 14kts at 3000rpm. The ho...

Marlon Utility boat?

I was looking a cheap used skiff and came across a Marlon welded utility skiff for ~$5k and was wondering if anyone knows anything about them.

It was the SVW15 model which is 15'x80"

Re: 24 Almar S/R

After installing a 15.25x19P on the main and not getting more than 5000(barely)RPM at WOT, returned it and switched to a 14.25x17P which passed the WOT test with 6000RPM. Yamaha calls for 5000 to 6000 WOT. It is not the speed demon all my friends suggested it would be, and coming from the former 49...

Deere dealer?

I am looking to Repower my boat with a John Deere, and I am looking for a "honest" ( I know) dealer who I can get a few bids from. I got my first quote back from Hatton in Ballard, but they came up with 250 hrs at $109 per so $27,250, which doesn't include machine work or the $10,000 worth...

Yeah. I usually use the brass t-handle pug, I have just been over thinking the whole thing I guess.

Just got done going over my insurance and realized how much money that $1.99, made in Taiwan, plug keeps floating.

Drain plug?

All right I am getting ready to launch my boat for the summer and I am probably over thinking this.

BUT, what is the best drain plug to use for a aluminum boat.

I need a expanding 1" plug, not threaded.

I have looked around and see that they make them out of stainless, brass, and aluminum.

I didn't think about the compatibility of lead acid and agm with a relay charger. I guess I better look into that.

Re: Going to wire in a house battery, but have a question.

Yes that's the plan. Kind of. One of my agm's is bad. So I was going to replace it with a deep cycle for a house battery. I figure that I can keep the 4pos battery switch(powering the motor only) with #1 being a AGM and #2 a D8. Then I was figuring that I can add a second 2pos battery switch off of ...

Re: Going to wire in a house battery, but have a question.

I was just figuring it was going to be like the fuel tank in my truck. As long as I don't let it get too low then it doesn't hurt as bad to fill it up.

Maybe not though.

Going to wire in a house battery, but have a question.

Alright. I am going to be working on the boat in the morning and a new house battery and charging relay. I currently have two agm with a battery selector switch, but want a dedicated house battery for this season. But Is there any reason not to put a d8 in? I left the switch on and the stereo on so ...

Welding tips or tricks?

Well I finally picked up a spool gun (30A) for my welder (Miller 252). I don't ever plan on doing projects as big as John. But look forward to bein able to fab some rigging or little things hopefully.

Is there anything that you guys can offer to help shorten the learning curve?
