Re: 24 Almar S/R
What are your thoughts on sealing off the box created under the swim step to add floatation? A pipe could run through this area to the rear to drain the old bilge, and a second plug installed to drain the air chamber. A hatch could be placed in the swim step for access.

These pics show the defroster bar. This is an experiment. It is a tube with a lot of holes angled to blow hot air onto the windows There is a fan above to help with air circulation. I'll let you know how it works.

ducts.JPG duct3.JPG Here is the Espar install and duct work. Yes I know a "Y" is facing the wrong direction. I'll replace it with a "T", but I did not have one and town is 250 miles away. One pic shows the duct running to the cuddy. The lower duct covers the exhaust. I put the h...

I placed the fuel pump for the Espar in the locker and made a mount for the heater tucked along the side next to the rear dinette seat.

Part of last year's project was a couple lockers built in to the side. One was for a kerosene tank for an Espar heater. These pics show the tank and how I will fill it the year.

Re: Almost new boat and new to the forum
The davit will still swing to the center of the deck for a helping hand. I put a new opening window in the door. Air circulation was an issue at times while on the hook and cooking.

Re: Almost new boat and new to the forum
Lobo Hidey4.jpg[attachment=1]Lobo Hidey4.jpg This is an update on some new projects. When I lengthened the boat in March a year ago, I left the davit in its original position. I wasn't sure where I wanted it. After using it for a season, I moved it back to close to where it was. One photo shows it ...

I spent the month of March this year adding 30" to my rear deck. Check out "Your Alloy Boat" about the 8th post down "Almost new boat and new to the forum". We built the transom box down last year. Anyway you might find the post of some use.

Re: Almost new boat and new to the forum
Heavy loads and rough seas: Just got back from a 200 mile jaunt. Took off with 220 gals of gas, three people and enough food and gear to go on a long trip. First day out we hit 5' seas and took a lot of water over the top. At 22 MPH there was some pound falling off the back side of the third wave in...

Re: Almost new boat and new to the forum
Well I got the boat wet. It didn't leak or fall apart, knock on wood. When I first put the boat in PWS in 2010 and went out I opened it up and did 48 MPH at 5800 RPM and burned 35-37 GPH. Cruising at 22 MPH I burned 10.5-10.7 GPH at 3400 RPM. I now go 42MPH at 6000 RPM and burn 32 GPH. At 3400 RPM I...

Thanks for the tip I'll check it out. There is plastic between the carpet and the hull but it isn't continuous, I don't believe.
I just looked at the second photo on page two of the post. It shows about a 6" gap between the plastic strips.

Re: Almost new boat and new to the forum
Thought I'd give a little idea of what this project took. I have about 300 hours over 5 weeks and another 3-4 days to get ready for the water, a lot of 10-12 hour days. I put the motors back on yesterday now it's finish up the wiring , etc.. There was at least 200 hours by 4 different people investe...
