Re: Bay Boat, LA home grown
Been a long time..... Interestingly enough.....last week Clint from Gaudet's called me on adding some floods to his overnight fishing boat..... During that conversation I asked him what it would take to build my boat at today's alloy levels..........over 85K was his answer......I was really taken wi...

Re: a NICE Gaudet's!!
Supper nice guy, I think he just has young kids and can't get out that much.
His boat is a year older than mine and I just broke 200 and feel like I'm not getting out enough.

Re: Jimmy Gravois is at again
Actually, as I understand it.........there are now two. Alex Gravois is Jimmy's nephew and left the company when Jimmy started doing just the government stuff. Alex's boats are built right down the street from me under the "American" name. There is scuttle butt about the deal but what I se...

Re: The "Other" Boating Forum
I don't mind the guys that don't like alloy........what bothers me is those that have never ridden or been in a quality alloy boat. Most think of "tinnys" and not the substantial boat that I own. I can tell you that I have pulled into Marinas for Maurepas to Pensacola and everyone is curio...

Re: SWAMP PEOPLE...and thier new Alwelds
I know exactly where they are! Hunted that area for five years about 25 years ago.
However, I am east of there right off the Lake Maurepas area.
In fact, we own 8 acres in the Maurepas Wildlife Management area.
I just wished the ducks where there.

Re: This is battleship grade alloy build
Stopped by yesterday and dropped off my card and asked to get Alex log on and talk to us some. Apparently the fab shop by my house builds the boats for Alex, At least that is what the gentleman told me. Alex then takes the boat and rigs and finishes the boat, exceptionally well I might add. Dat's wh...

Re: This is battleship grade alloy build
Guy is just down the road from me. I will go by there this week and see if we can get him to log on!! What is amazing to me is that design is over thirty years old. There are a couple guides around Golden Meadow Louisiana that have had their boats re-furbished three times!! The oldest boat was bough...

Re: SWAMP PEOPLE...and thier new Alwelds
let me be clear, I am happy for all those that are making money on this series. BUT.......the show is highly embellished with a ton of editing. The entertainment side is understood and is great fun. Educational?? that may not be so unless you are okay with learning opinion and conjecture as opposed ...

Re: SWAMP PEOPLE...and thier new Alwelds
The show has gotten hilarious really. There is so much hype it's ridiculous. Like the Thanksgiving show with them hunting a domesticated turkey. I actually grew up with the Guist Brothers.....many of there shows are filmed on the same river system my families camp is on. Troy was a pretty successful...

Re: MY TRIP TO THE HOLY LAND......
I lurk around Jetty! We killed 448 birds down there this year....usually hunting 6 guys. And reds to boot of course and after noon jigging around the marina produce some nice bass and few sacalait. That place is just unbelievable. Cypress cove has it's positive side too. Just not for the old school ...

Re: MY TRIP TO THE HOLY LAND......
Glad you made it over Jetty!
I spent most weekends of the duck season at that Marina in Venice.
One old friend has a houseboat, another a place in Empire on the way down.
We have been hunting public land there for around 25 years or so.......
Limits of ducks and redfish on most trips there.
