Re: Hang In There Guys

Hi guys,

39 degrees Celsius here in Perth Western Australia today and 40 tomorrow (think that's well over 100 in your language?) but the wind is howling like a bastard! Making it hard to get offshore, but the crabs are firing in the estuary!

Re: Prayers for fellow AABer

Condolences to Cody and family.

I only knew of Marty through the valuable contributions he made to this excellent website but obviously he was held in extremely high regard by all who knew him well.

Gone too soon.

Re: Boat Lifter

Hey Jettywolf, Yeah, I suppose the canals are fairly exclusive. Average price of a house would be around $1.5-2 Million Aus. There are lots of very small fish in the canals such as Herring, Whiting, Tarwhine, Flounder, Tailor, Salmon etc. that would only be 6-12 inches long (good fun for the kids) b...

Abcat Ali Cat

Here's a link to a small vid of my ultimate fishing machine.

They're made locally in Mandurah, Western Australia and look just awesome on the water!

Re: Boat Lifter

Hey IN2DEEP, Actually, it's my folks place and they were good enough to let me put the lifter in and store my boat there! Given that I do all my fishing down around that area, it's so much easier to lower the boat into the water and just go, rather than tow it down from Perth and use one of the publ...

Re: Boat Lifter

Hey Jettywolf,

This is down in Mandurah, about an hour south of Perth, Western Australia.

It's a great part of the world! BTW these canals run off an Estuary not far upstream from the ocean and the water in them is pristine and full of small fish (and the odd big one)!

Re: Boat Lifter

Thanks guys. Ironwood, yeah, no more antifoul (bottom paint )to worry about. Had my last boat moored to this jetty in the water and hated what the paint did to the boat's performance and economy! The lifter doesn't go up and down very fast, but it only takes a couple of minutes and you're rea...

Mean't to post these pics earlier. This is my Dad's weapon of choice for drift fishing chasing Snapper, WA Dhuies etc. Basically a smaller rod mounted version of Pete's monster Alvey. Got it loaded with 50Lb braid, which is about the only modern feature it has! Still, good solid piece of gear that w...

That's a serious drop off so close to shore Pete!

Most of my fishing is done off Mandurah here in W.A. and I have to travel about 20 miles to get into 50 metres!

What did you catch for the day?

Calstabi, I read a review on a Stabi in an Australian magazine called "Trailer Boat" the other day. The reviewer wrote that the boat had a set up with water taken onboard drained into an area below the transom and was expelled by a bilge pump (same as yours?), however a fully sealed self d...

My Dad is exactly the same. He has one for bottom bouncing but I've loaded it with 50lb braid so he is at least fishing with some sort of feel. I don't really like them for this type of fishing, give me my Shimano overheads any day, but the casting models for beach / rock fishing can be a real weapo...

Hi John,

Love the boat!

Special Ops- is that similar to our (Australia) SAS guys? They certainly are our "Nation's Finest".
