Re: raider 2484 question

I don't own that boat, but my guess is the ride will be a bigger issue than the stability. I mostly fly fish and have a 23' raider center console (8.5' beam) built on their 2100 PRO SPORT hull and stability has not been an issue (I've had it out at Neah / Westport / Nookta in the ocean in decent swe...

Side mount rod holder suggestions?

Is there a good method for mounting rod holders (under the gunwale parallel holders) without having to drill holes through the sides of the boat for the fasteners or welding on some type mounting bracket? I've tried using 3m heavy duty double sided tape and then west system g/flex epoxy. I only get ...

Re: Hull Corrosion on 2010 Hewescraft 220 Ocean Pro

Products used - 3M Marine Aluminum Restorer and Polish paste, Toon-Brite Pontoon & Aluminum Cleaner. Also used fine bronze wool pads with some barkeeper friends cleanser in the heaviest flowering areas as a mild abrasive scrub in the acid foam. The method that worked best for me was to apply a s...

Re: Hull Corrosion on 2010 Hewescraft 220 Ocean Pro

I'm no expect on this subject, and I've never had to do this after having applied Sharkhide, however I probably spent about 30 hours last year trying to get all the flowering off my boat and a trick I stumbled on was to apply some 3M aluminum polish with the undiluted acid wash (I used the toonbrigh...

Re: My experience with acid...

Here’s some photos. It rained most of last week after I first acid washed the boat and before I could add the metal protectant recommended by Jettywolf. The result was some noticeable streaking from the rain water running down the hull off the gunwales. So I did yet another acid wash this weekend an...

My experience with acid...

Despite my best efforts, after only a year of salt water use, I was starting to develop some significant mill scale flowering and early signs of vinyl blistering on my 23’ 2013 Raider (my previous alloy boat was a victim of ruinous paint blistering). So over the holiday weekend I pulled the vinyl an...

Re: New boat for new guy

RE lingcod - 8-9" yak hair clousers, weighted lines, 9wt rods. The big flies can be very effective - more so than gear at times. Rockfish are a blast when actively feeding on krill at the surface. I've had some epic days getting them stripping poppers but usually it's a sinking line game. Ling1...

Fellow Brother Raider! I'm thoroughly enjoying the new boat. No worries about adding a kicker.

Re: New boat for new guy

Chaps - Traditionally, I've had good luck for silvers "inside" starting mid-July at whistle buoy, but I suspect one can at certain tides do well sooner as I've seen coho in the straits in early July and I know coho are hooked in decent numbers in early June on the CAN side of swiftsure. BT...

New boat for new guy

Hi there. Joe from Snohomish Washington here. Some good info and really nice boats on this site. I recently pulled the trigger and upgraded from a 17' Crestliner to a custom Raider center console so I'd figure I'd post some photos. The new boat is 23' with the bracket and has a 8.5' beam and based o...

Re: aluminum boat advise

Funny, I'm currently trying to decide between a Silver Streak CC and a Wooldridge CC 21’. I’ve seen the Wooldridge factory and like the structural design of their boats even with the lighter gauge. I haven’t seen the Silver Streak factory and their design, but I’m skeptical about the value of inject...

Re: Custom 21' Wooldridge offshore center console

I took a trip over to the showroom yesterday specifically to see this boat. It’s even better and bigger in person. That raised deck is very solid but not too high and you can plug up the scuppers if fishing with a lot of weight in the back. What impressed me as much as anything (as I was impressed b...
