Re: 3 AK tough work/commuter skiffs
Good luck on trying to find one boat... I think at the last count the wife was up to 15 boats. The only thing they all have in common is they are all paidfors, and I get to work on all of them. We live on the beach here and if you don't have a dock you need a skiff on a haul line to deal with the ti...

Vacuum Bags
Our supplier for chamber vacuum bags (Quality Matters) seems to have gone out of business. Does anyone have a source of bags on the west coast? We are needing to pick up 3 of the 1000 bag
cases.
Thanks Gary

Re: outdoor kitchen table/Fish cleaning station
I think that the raised lip to help keep the gurry off the floor would sure simplify clean up. A cutting board would still allow the gurry to drain and keep a low knife angle for skinning. A good job on design. If anybody has a line on cheap (reasonable) solid surface material and would like to shar...

Re: Transducer help and thoughts
Our boats are moored and through hulls are always a worry. The part of through hulls that usually fail are the hoses or valves, I've never heard of a failure from a through hull transducer. A friends boat did sink with a stern mounted transducer(heavy rain, lost mounting screws, and a failed bilge p...

We used to live out at Whiskey Creek Beach before moving to Alaska. We still have a 26 Olympic that we run along with our Aluminum boats. I guess the adventure is the most important thing to us (along with the fish). This is like what the Peninsula was 75 years ago, we just don't get to have any bla...

Re: Zincs and bottom paint for mixed water (fresh and salt)
When I was looking at the bottom paint in our Marine Store on the Island and pondering what way to go, I asked Chet what he thought? His reply was very down to earth and asked how much time I spent each year scraping bottoms? We'll I usually have to scrape the Aluminum boats twice a season and it ta...

Re: outdoor kitchen table/Fish cleaning station
Sweet table cleaning table........... We are getting ready to rebuild our cleaning station and I really like like your under hung sink and rim. Do you use a cutting board to raise the height of fish to skin them? (we skin our halibut, bottom fish and the salmon headed for the caner)I like the sink s...

A way to get a good start and learn the basics is going to adult ed classes or what ever they're called in your neck of the woods. A lot of community colleges and some high schools in smaller communities have continuing education classes. It's also amazing some of the you tube videos out on welding ...

This has been an incredible thread on many accounts. Your ability to design, modify and build, (and your crews skills) a big water fishing machine. Documenting the complete process of getting to the final results. Your obvious sea and fishing experience in testing and tweaking to obtain an excellent...

Re: Prince of Wales
That's us, guess we need to figure out how to do this right. Well were off to feed 5doz herring to the silvers this morning. They have been jumping all around the boat in the Klawock Harbor, but what fun is that, if you have a boat you need to go burn some fuel.

We had some guests staying with us 2 weeks ago and surprised us with a U Tube video this morning of their trip to fish sockeye. We usually don't do large groups as we only offer one cabin for four people. But as there trip planning progressed the trip grew larger and we agreed to the large group in ...

Re: First AGM Died
I had 1 AGM die this winter due to a bad ground connection to it, or so i thought. My batteries are always on the AGM onboard charger during the winter, and when it's docked in Klawock. Pulled the battery and put it on a smart charger and it said the battery was bad. Have a old school craftsman batt...

Great looking hydraulic enclosure, what do you use for sound proofing on the inside? I like the door seal you used to help lower the noise.

Another option if you have the time is trailer it to or from Prince Rupert and use AMH, it's a 2 day drive from Seattle. There are only a couple small passes, Jack BACK SIDE on the Frasier River and Grizzly Hill between Prince George and Rupert. With our F250 diesel we only have to refuel once in Ca...

Call Northland and AML in Seattle they will give you a quote. They will put it on a skid if it doesn't have a trailer. Both Northland and AML have shipped boats for us. It all depends on the location and how many times the load is transferred to a different barge. It seems like the last 26 we shippe...

Kicker prop size
I have a older honda 9.9 that has a 9.5X9.5 prop that has a shot bushing, it does exhaust through the prop. I can't seem to see that size available anywhere. The boat is a 28 Alumaweld Jet that seems to have a hull speed of about 5.5kts, or at least that is about the max the kicker will push it. If ...
