Late Monday report
Most of you I'm sure have already read the report by Bonito Bob, my fishing partner, on one of the other sites, so I'll keep it short. Caught and released our first tuna of the year, 66" on spinning gear. Thanks to John P. who designed the little ring that lets you use a harness while fighting ...

haddock on the bank
The Night Runner returned the bank yesterday, with a thousand other boats, targeting haddock. Filled the cooler by 10:00am cleaned fish until noon. Largest haddock measured just over 31", with the average size about 26". Caught in 120' - 160' on clams, small jigs and many on the teaser. Th...

Re: GOM Oil Spill
This is horrible. my family and all the people of Lousiana have had a tough enough time without this. Its going to really mess up the fishing, crabbing, and shrimping for many years to come.

Re: Cod and Pollack
The 20 would be fine, it has less deadrise so the ride into the seas will be even rougher, but pick your days and it can handle even the biggest tuna out there. We had a very rough ride home Sunday. Trim tabs all the way down and slowed the boat to about 15 knots. Then she rides much like a downeast...

Cod and Pollack
Stellwegan is loaded with fish and fisherman. Fished Sunday catching our limit on some nice cod 6-12lb. and some pollack as a bonus. Had our limit of cod by 10:30 am. so spent a couple of hours searching for the haddock. We did locate the haddock but the seas sent us home early. I know you guys want...

Re: Gentleman's Holiday
Heard about the pilot whales that capsized a kayak off ptown. One lost. Those pilot whales can get aggressive if they feel you are to close. Great to get out again after a very long winter. I heard rumors of coolers full of pollack and cod on the north side of the bank this week. Also heard the haddo...

haddock fishing
Third times the charm. It took three trips out, but we found them out where John P. fought a large tuna for over an hour on spinning gear before he invented the harness ring. Caught nice haddock to 27" and many doubles on keeper cod( a week before the season ) released. Swarms of haddock should...

Re: Georgia deer hunt
Yep it was cold down there, perfect for deer hunting. Looks like I'll be able to fill the freezer there every year for the next few years. Hunting the giant live oaks and found a huge white oak that the deer just can't resist. John the countdown to fishing season has started. All the Haddock you wan...

Georgia deer hunt
Been down in Liberty county Georgia to hunt the last week of there season on a management hunt. The goal was to take home 4 does - mission accomplished. Venison for my entire family and a few close friends. Now I'm out of adventures and back to work (YUK) until fishing season starts. A little over 4...

Re: Fighting Clamp....Your Thoughts????
Wasn't my gear, it was shimano rod and reel. I don't know exactly which one, but the rod and reel handled the big fish well. If the knot held that fish would be sushi now.

Re: Fighting Clamp....Your Thoughts????
John, The clamp works great. I got a chance to try it out fighting one of those monsters off the NWC. I was able to sit on the fish just like with my 50's. We did not boat the monster, the slim beauty broke and I went tumbling backwards. The clamp worked perfect, I just put to much pressure trying t...
