Re: Nomad marine kits ?
Not sure on Adam's feelings about issuing cutfiles overseas these days. As Daniel says he likes to sell the kit directly but you never know and there is no harm in asking. I do have a 20' centre console that has been built and proven (although the client put their own island cab on it, loosely based...

Re: dream cat 30
When we design aluminum boats we generate cutfiles for all the aluminum components so can easily calculate weight of the aluminum structure. The boat came out heavy due to the use of thick plywood and timbers in the fitout when the boat was designed for light weight honeycomb cabinetry. Because the ...

Re: dream cat 30
As I said originally I've never actually seen the boat in the flesh and as such cannot comment on fine details or build quality either to say that it is fantastic or below par, I just don't know. I do know the owner had the boat inspected by an independent surveyor before it was allowed to leave the...

Re: dream cat 30
This is the GA for the Dream Cat. As you can see weight wise, we traded diesel engines and genset for more accommodation and a bigger cabin.

In this case the hull was designed for an Australian client and then the deck house modified for PNW use. This is the original design.

Re: dream cat 30
Designed by me and built in China for a US based client. Fitout on this prototype wasn't done as per the plans and as such she's over weight. The owner was very disappointed with the end result and has been seeking a new builder. I haven't seen the boat personally so can't comment on build quality b...

Re: Looking for designer for commercial boat
A cat would be superior in terms of stability, performance, handling etc. But comes with the disadvantage of a crowded (narrow) engine room and high freeboard which will be made even higher if looking to carry large payloads.

Re: New Power Cat Build
That's not quite what I meant with respect to panel clean up. I don't trim anything in Workshop. I export complete parts with intersections etc turned on then sort through them in AutoCAD. I find that doing this with precision set to maximum and accuracy set to 6 decimal places when you export creat...

Re: New Power Cat Build
Kevin, as Daniel mentioned I use a range of different packages for different parts and components. The software I spend the most time in during a normal design process is actually Excel as I start in it before I model anything doing a preliminary weight estimate and performance prediction then gener...

Re: New Power Cat Build
We took the client's reps out on a sister ship with twin 225hp suzukis, but as the boat will be based on an inland lake system they decided to save some money on outboards and help staff avoid the temptation to travel everywhere at over 40 knots. With the 150s it'll do about 40mph. I find it funny w...

Re: bending 5083 plate.
Gareth,
I'm probably too late to this party. But JPAC Engineering in Moorabbin bend over a 25mm bar and Pelagic boats out in Leongatha uses a 12mm bar. Either of which should be fine, especially at this time of year and I'm sure either would help you out if you gave them a call.

Re: Pelagic and CTMD together at last.
Doesn't mean a lot. Despite being only 100km apart and in Australia Daniel and I met on this US based site and both post here regularaly. As I know many of you like watching boats get built I thought I'd provide a link to where Daniel is building his new 7m model.

ouch, that will hurt if it happens of its own accord due to heavy rain.dawgaholic wrote:The street sweeper unknowingly liquified about two tons of the stuff and pine straw served to help create a pollen infused slurry which literally set up into stone once it got hot.
