Re: Need advice from Alaska folk

Hello kegga, I live in Alaska and work in Haines that time of year. Haines is a small town in-between juneau and skagway.here Mid may sees good to very good trolling for king salomon in the lynn canal region. There are halibut in the canal however the further you travel up it the deeper and more bar...

Re: Picked up a Bayweld Walkthrough

Displacement empty is about 10,000lbs. Tankage is 200 gallons. She gets 1.7-1.9 gpm. The 200's push her 30 28-29 not at 4300 rpm. She'll cruise I nicely at 3800-3900 rpm around 24-25 knt. Props are powertech ptz3's 14.25"x17"p. Wot is 5500 loaded, 6000 with 15" Yamaha reliance props. I've had her in...

Re: Picked up a Bayweld Walkthrough

Some more pics. This boat rides nicer than any other aluminum boat of this proportion I've been in (basically all). The mid cab distributes weight nicely. The deep forefoot does not catch (broach) overtaking. The chine flats are large and transition from bow to stern as to generate great lift and st...

Its 29x9.5. Deep entry and forefoot for aluminum planning hull, 17* At the transom, no lifting strakes. Has a drop bow for disembarking, I use it commercially as a taxi etc. Seats 6 on the port and 3 behind captain. Electric head accessible from cockpit. Owner of bay weld had it built as his persona...

Picked up a Bayweld Walkthrough

Well, I moved on from the 25' Seawolf. I really liked that boat, but this baby became available for a good price. The Bayweld rides exceptionally well in moderate to mod-heavy sea states, can't say enough enough about its handling capabilities for its length, beam and displacement.

Re: 26' Seawolf repower/refinish

min speed for planing is 15knt+/- min rpm for planing is 3400 rpm+/- Those new 300's (4.2l v-6) are very torquey, with the fly by wire you have to be careful not to send people flying. Super wide motor as you guys know. I set my control friction fairly high as to not accidentally bump the controls a...

Re: Marlon Utility boat?

Those Marion's are good, well built skiffs. They were built in Alaska and I thought they were all at least 3/16" bottoms. They really are/were a good skiff, I've seen some up here that I thought were the best deal around for the $

Re: 26' Seawolf repower/refinish

Yeah, he was unrealistic about the price for a loooong time. I finally went down there and showed him everything that need to be done to make it worth the price he was asking. The boat had been neglected. It still took him a while after that to come around. With the F300 I get interesting numbers. I...
