Re: MPG?
Hey Mark, Since your are contemplating it. Just an FYI I have now raise my motor up another notch from last season and it is now up 2 from the original as low as it would go configuration (Pacific 23WA5 with Honda 225). 2 recent runs to Catalina have yield an average of 3.45 MPG cruising between 22 ...

Re: Boat temporarily on the block...I need cash.
Hey Dave, I with your wife on this one. I somehow feel connected with your purchase of this boat. Especially since I met you on the day you first looked at it. It seems that you have not had this boat all that long, about as long as I have had mine. I would be hard pressed to dump my boat unless it ...

Re: 23' Black Lab/Honda 225 engine mounting height
Mark You S*ck. The sister ship has only gotten 3.5 mpg best (instantaneous measure) with a light load and a SE blow kicking her in the a$$ on the way to Catalina. Her last run (2 weeks ago) with full fuel, bait and ice chest and 2 SOB to the 209 from Newport was 2.96 mpg. Ran 122.6 nm (GPS) burned 4...

Re: HOW TO LAUNCH YOUR BOAT.........
Here is one for you guys. I was working on my bait pump where I keep my boat at Newport Dunes on a Saturday. I decided to take a potty break and on my way back I could not help but stop to watch the boats coming in the ramp. So I see this beautiful CC about 26 ft coming in with an older gentleman at...

Re: Now for the rest of the story... 09 WC M&G P1
Hey Mark, Looks like a great time. Sorry I could not attend. I was actually trying to catch Montana Cutthroats at Trout Lake in Yellowstone National Park on the day of the M&G. Oh well maybe next year. Two years in a row I have had a conflict with with the M&G and going to MT for trout. BTW ...

Re: Fuse for 12v socket?
Dave, Alternatively you can fuse it for the maximum rating for the socket you are installing. For example Blue Sea Systems (ttp://www.defender.com/product.jsp?path=-1%7C328%7C49758%7C299260%7C319691&id=1187549) socket is rated for a maximum of 15 amps. So I would install it on a circuit fused fo...

Re: TBX hub
JW, Here a link to the Solas Rubex . Simialr concept. http://www.rubexprops.com/ I am using one on my 225. Local prop guy (AAA Propeller Service) recommends them. Have not had the chance to see if it really works, but keeping a hammer and a block of wood and a hub takes up less space than a spare pr...

North River Boats News
Was at the Fred Hall Show in Long Beach, CA last night and talked to the Steiger Craft Dealer, and he told me about North River Boats closing its retail stores. So I Googled it today to find the following link.

Re: 26 'WOT Speed????
Seafood Man, As posted by others your given your situation of hitting max engine RPM suggests that your current prop selection is under pitched for that prop design. Here is what bugs me. If I assume you are running a 14" pitch prop. not diameter and the Verado has a gear ratio of 1.75. Putting...

Re: 26 'WOT Speed????
Hi Pete, Let me start by saying that I am by no means an expert in determining prop performance and what I am presenting here is what I have so far gleamed from reading various sources over and over. In your original post I was wondering what the pitch of your prop was. Here is why. You can calculat...

Mark, Good One!! Went out yesterday too with my son and a his friend and friend's dad. First Dorado for my son as well. Small fish but still fun, especially for the kids. So far none yet on the fly. BSer, I realize that you are only talking about peak fuel economy at 5 mpg, under the best conditions. Even on a good flat water day the best the Honda fuel management shows is a 3.5 mpg. That is a peak number. I have never seen 4 mpg at cruise, and would like to see that number. I don't think the b...

Something just does not seem right. The numbers posted on all these boats are amazing. I guess if I wanted fuel economy I should not have purchased the Pacific 23 WA5. So far the what I have gotten out of my boat is around 3 mpg. The number of 3 is based upon GPS milage and gallons consumed on the H...

Time for the update on my WA5. Took delivery from TW in early April. Other than the basic Radio and compass the boat did not have any working electronics. In anticipation of a 30 day deliver of the Navnet 3D stuff I had TW install a transducer (Aimar SS164 1kW Tilted element) and the DFF1, along wit...

Dave, The Spot and EPIRB are somewhat different animals. You should go to the SPOT web page to see what it can do. As far as cost is concerned the SPOT will end up costing slightly more over 5 years over a GPS EPIRB, but has some really neat features. It does not send out messages that the CG monito...
