Re: Unintentional Ground Returns to Hull?

All out boards and inboard engines are grounded to the alloy hull. The block of the outboard is negative this is why it is very important to matain the anodes on an outboard motor.(have a look at the starter motor it has a small negative loop to the block also look at the rectifiers they are grounde...

Re: Weld sequence

Welder I would love that option. These hulls are built around a single 6100x1525x5 sole sheet. The frames are fitted and welded into the sole sheet, it being the jig.

Re: Installing self bailing decks

Kevin as always thank you for you expert and detailed reply. I have pondered this over the Christmas period, I have done a bit of research into the designer/ architect apparently he retired about 20years ago at age 75. From what I can find out is the customer ordering these boats is a environmental ...

Installing self bailing decks

Thoughts on welded in vs sikaflex and riveted in decks. I have always welded in the deck/floor in my boats. I have been asked to build a number of 16ft hulls, I have looked through their design and have found in the specification they have the self bailing deck to be sikaflex sealed and riveted to t...

Re: Weld sequence

Kevin. These are a design I have played with for many years. They are mainly used by commercial net fisherman working in shallow waters. This exact hull 18' long with motor, 900lb load mid ships and two adults only draws 4" of water. They are liked because of the stability they offer, shallow d...

Re: Weld sequence

Kevin you pretty well hit the nail on the head. Tack the side sheets on first. Weld in the centre longitudinal starting mid ships. Chain welding 4" beads either side of the longitudinal centre out to each end. Then the other longitudinals centre out. Chines welded inside from centre out. Instal...

Weld sequence

image.jpeg Interested to get other people's ideas on weld schedules. Above is a picture of the internal framing of a Jon punt I commercially build. I have added numbers and letters to the frames, in what sequence would you weld in these sections to control the distortion. Bottom sheet 4mm side shee...

Re: High speed alloy craft

Dave. Best way to view the roster tail is to go to "www.armacraft.com". Look in gallery at the top of the page and select croq video. There is a video of a couple of the older spec boats in action.

Re: High speed alloy craft

It is powered by twin megatech Diesel engines and coupled to there ms-2000 surface drives (surface piercing props) It is quite impressive at speed to look out the back and see a roster tail of water 50 ft high and 100 ft long standing up out the back.

Re: Hello from australia

Thank you for the welcome. Sorry it has taken me so long to get a chance to reply it has been a busy few weeks I have just finished and sea trailed a shallow water punt. High speed alloy craft

A couple of pics of one of the boats I was building for a EU government. They were built to patrol a riverine border between two countries. The full specs still remain somewhat classified, but speed requirements were set at a minimum of 60knots sprint and operational cruise@ 35knots. Full ballistic ...

Re: meat eater

I will try to post a photo of the blades I use, they are TCT negative pitch blade designed for alloy cutting. They are designed to only cut when they are feed into the material minimising grabbing and jumping out. But I will only use these blades in a air grinder or the better I found is a hitachi c...

Australian coral trout

Heat oil in pan, place fillet into pan, cook until you see the edges of fillet turning white. Flip and cook for half the time . Serve onto plates, keeping hands of the way as they will get eaten by the guests.

Re: Boat plans

image.jpg Hope this might help. This is a picture of the framing during construction in a 19' punt I recently built. Firstly after pulling the nose up into shape I welded in 5x longitudinals full length of the hull 50mmx 6mm these were cut from a sheet of 5083 and spaced equal distance from centre ...
