Re: Almar 22 sounder repower

Alright, put her in the water today at Salisbury point and drove her up to Port Ludlow where she will spend the summer. I ended up putting 400 pounds of ballast in her which so far has been just what the doctor ordered. She was stable and handled very well, I have the GPS working and it told me I wa...

Re: Almar 22 sounder repower

I cut them down a bit to accommodate the bracket but I think they are still too large because when I put them all the way "bow down" it really buried the bow! So right now I am using a very gentle touch when I use them so I think taking a few inches off each side of them is the right answe...

Re: Almar 22 sounder repower

Appreciate the advice. I put her in the water this weekend with a full tank of gas, 63 gallons, to take your advice and run her around without ballast and see what is what. I took a good buddy along with just basic safety gear to see how she rides and rolls. We started at the dock by having me in th...

Re: Almar 22 sounder repower

I brought her home from Kitsap Marina today where they installed the new outboard, here is a picture of the boat with the motor on it. 20180418_191644.jpg I am going to be finishing her up over the next few weeks and will post more pics as I complete it. When we put her in for the test drive she was...

Re: Almar 22 sounder repower

Well, big disappointment today because the boat is still not ready! Looks like another week until Christmas...but I did go by the Allied boat shop today and get a few pictures to share. The bracket is done, the swimstep is almost done and they have a good start on the inside work. They still need to...

Re: Almar 22 sounder repower

Went by the shop today and took a few pictures of the work being done by Allied Boats in Bremerton, they are a bit behind schedule but doing great work. They tell me they'll be done by the end of next week and I can hardly wait. We did have to modify the design of the bracket to accommodate the moto...

Almar 22 sounder repower

Last year I purchased a new to me 22 foot Almar sounder with a 200 HP inboard outdrive set up. Since the outdrive and motor were pretty much corroded to death I decided to pull the trigger on a repower. I had the motor pulled out and then brought the boat over to a local boat builder to work with th...

Almar 22 sounder advice

Hello, I am looking at a 1989 22 foot Almar sounder with a cuddy, soft top, 350 Mercruiser motor and bravo outdrive (both of which the owner tells me are original to the boat), with 1250 hours on it. The boat has been sitting for a few years, needs to be cleaned but otherwise looks to be in good con...

Re: raider 2484 question

BrickShouse, drooling over the pics of your boat, love the no paint option! I would love to hear your take on how she handles in rough water and how stable she is at drift.

Re: raider 2484 question

Thanks for your responses, the info gives me lots to think about including looking at the Kingfisher Coastal Express boats as another possibility. Curious that it is really difficult to find either the Raider 24 cuddy or the Kingfisher Coastal Express used anywhere. Makes me think owners buy em and ...

Re: raider 2484 question

Wow, that is a lot to think about considering the raider has a 'great' price point of 80K ish!
