Re: 24 foot boat build for Northwest

Crozier built my 28' boat and did a 1st class job.

Go to his website and click his Facebook page - he updates it almost every week
with the progress being made on his current builds.

He has 23' boat that is almost done, he might be taking it to the Seattle boat show.

Feel free to PM if you want.

Re: 250's or 300's???

My 28' Crozier with a single Yamaha 350 V-8 gets 1.35 to 1.45 Nmpg at a 25 to 26 knot cruise speed. A friends 28' Crozier with a single Yamaha 300 V-6 gets 1.1 to 1.2 Nmpg at similar speeds. Note - while the hull shapes are not the same (hulls are designed by different NA's) the weights are within a...

Re: 26’ Cat or 28’Monohull

If you are going with the mono hull I would suggest at least twin 200's.

Twin 150's is pretty light on power for that size boat - boats only gain weight during their lives!

Re: 26’ Cat or 28’Monohull

Hard to say if a 8.5' beam cat or a 9.5' beam mono will be more "stable", everyone has a different idea of a good ride, etc. If cruising for up to 10 days at a time is most important to you then the wider the beam the better simply for the useable space and comfort you will have. If trailering cross...

Re: 26’ Cat or 28’Monohull

The mono will give you more space as Chaps noted. Typically cats work very well going into a chop and they roll less - their weak spot is usually in a large following sea due to the lower hull volume. Another consideration is how high is the tunnel - the higher the better for ride / less wave slap. ...

I'm sure Chaps will chime in soon, he used Flexdel Armor for my boat last spring.

Re: Pacific V2325 vs V2600

All things being equal the longer boat will ride better because it's longer and heavier.

Weight has a huge effect on ride quality although it generally requires more power, etc.

I looked at Pacific but decided to go with Crozier to get a true custom boat.

Feel free to PM me if you want.

Also check out his Facebook page, you can see his builds as they progress.

Chad has built several in that size range, with self bailing cockpits.

Re: Maine downeasters vs. PNW aluminum boats

I'll add on to Chaps comments - 1) Most welded Alu hulls are a constant deadrise design, some are variable deadrise, all depends on the NA. Variable deadrise will have a better ride although you usually lose some hull volume forward. 2) Their main function is to serve as rub rails, not all hulls hav...

Re: 28' Crozier / Hunt - New build

Sea trials! Complete boat with no gas or water weighed 7,980# - about 250# less than the NA's estimate. It was a cold and windy day in Port Townsend last Friday - 40 degrees, 20+ kts. wind and 2' - 3' chop. Boat ran very well, on plane at 3500 rpm going 20 kts. This speed was very comfortable...
