Re: Lund Alaskan floatation

I believe there is floatation all the way back under the floor. I have had 2 18' Alaskans and replace the floatation with empty 2 litres

Re: New boat not so new anymore

Insurance is getting me a new boat.  Problem is it's 18 months out.  I have dozens of charters booked for this year and was planning on doing tuna season in Massachusetts and north Carolina.  So I really need a boat to keep the business going.  I would have the repairs done here (Cleveland).  I sent...

New boat not so new anymore

Hello all.  Haven't been on here for a bit.  I finally received my boat at the end of December.  I took it out of wanchese for the giant bluefin commercial season and wouldn't you know it.  I was on the drift 45 miles out at night and another guy t-boned me.  Almost rolled us over.  My boat was a wh...

Re: Corrosion on kicker anode only

I have learned that all mercury outboards with stainless steel props are shipped with zinc anodes and any mercury outboard 25hp and under come with aluminum anodes.

Re: Blowing out windshields???

I will have GoPro's out the wazu everywhere on the boat. Starting a YouTube page 'reel polack". I don't speak good English so don't hold that against me. Plus I'm polish so I might be crossing the bar in reverse.

Re: Blowing out windshields???

I'm talking worse case scenario. I know I will be taking green water over the bow. 10' , hopefully not. I will have roughly a 1 mile stretch of bar crossing that is snotty on a east/northeast swell and outgoing tide. My plan is not going out on any of those. Weather changes so I'm just mentally prep...

Blowing out windshields???

I have a trip to the Oregon inlet in February in my duckworth 30xl that I should be getting middle of October. Has anyone with the forward leaning windshields ever taken on really green water? I mean like 10' breakers green water. I am thinking that this is my weakest link in the trip...... Besides ...

Re: Trim Tabs or pods or neither.

The only boat I ever put pods on was a tracker 1542. I set it up as a mud boat so I wanted it as shallow as possible. I installed a heavy long tail mud motor on it. I welded the pods on. They definitely worked as advertised. Only issue is vegetation and logs sometimes knocked the plug out of the pod...

Re: Bubble in transom paint

I would imagine that the thin aluminum is pitted on your transom. There should be a thick piece of marine grade wood behind the aluminum on the transom. The wood over a period of time wicks up the water and is slowly seeping out of the pinholes in the aluminum. What I have done in the past on lunds ...

Re: Duckworth 30xl build

I was told it can't happen. They offered me another build slot for next year but roughly $75,000 increase in next year model. I can always bolt on if needed. Paint removal (inside and out), carpet removal, wire removal and they said they weld on with hull upsidedown. They have no means of rolling it...

Duckworth 30xl build

Hey guys and gals. My new addition is coming along. It is really stressing me out because there are more options on a boat then a house. Pictures came in and I made a big booboo. I thought rub rails were standard. This is after paint inside and outside. It will be roughly 6"-8" wide and ru...

That fuel capacity is really mind blowing. That's a large hull that has to have room for more capacity.

Will I need power steering assist?

I'm having a 30 duckworth built with twin mercury 350's and 25hp kicker. The verados come with electro hydraulic steering (whatever this means). I guess there are pumps built into each motor. Anyone running this setup to steer me in the right direction? I don't want to be the guy making 30 revolutio...

I believe that the north river is the only highly manufactured yet somewhat costum company that offers a 27 with a 9'6" beam. I think you will be in that price range

Re: Finally ordered a boat

I am dealing with hardier baits then you guys I believe because I east coast and gulf of Mexico fish. Hard tails in the gulf and mackerel in the Atlantic. My 55 gallon on the stern corner works well but most of the time I am catching bait where I fish.

Re: Finally ordered a boat

I really appreciate it. Sounds like I will save my money and stick with my portable 55 gallon. That will save me around $500. I decided last minute to do verados. Have been hearing horror stories on the "other 2". Guys waiting 2 months for parts and so on. Anyone running the 350 verados?
