Re: Your thoughts and input on a 16 foot skiff for a noob.

Has anyone purchased a boat from Canada lately? I was looking into this recently and the place I contacted said I would have to pay a 1500 (500 paperwork, 1000 freight brokerage). Then I still had to transport the boat the rest of the way home once it was delivered across the border. Alternatively, ...

You happen to live on the right side of the country (the left) for thicker aluminum boat builders. I like the lee shore. Here are some others I'd like to see in person. Re: Henley 17' & 18' hulls - opinions

From what you have seen, would you say it looked like a quality boat? Welds? Ever talked to an owner? Do they like and recommend them, or long for something else?

Henley 17' & 18' hulls - opinions

This builder is in Canada and happens to be a 10 hr drive away from me. Most boats I seem to like are built 33+ hrs away on the west coast. Anyway, they make two smaller boat hulls. The 17 has 24" side and the 18' has a 30" side. Both with a self-bailing deck. Searching the internet doesn'...

Re: Zolatone vs. What?

I think the zolatone would be lighter. My guess is that it could be touched up later. Probably want to keep good notes on the mix you use. It really covers up the sins. Rivets (yes" I have a tinny) almost vanish with zolatone. Seems Like there may be some adhesion issues with line-x on aluminum...

Re: I never see boats like this in Michigan Craig's list

We need more "Wolverines" on this site. Lund owners would be very welcome..... A Pacificskiff on one of the the Great lakes or the other bazillion lakes would be a sight to see. A pacificskiff would be "great" for the great lakes. The flat bottom skiffs that some folks use in bi...

Re: I never see boats like this in Michigan Craig's list

There are a lot of Lund here, may be one of the more popular aluminum boats. Alumacraft and crestliner are popular also. Not much in the way of welded plate boats. I saw one Wooldridge on the Kalamazoo river. Riverman boats are popular on the Kalamazoo, I've seen a few of those. But, they are made i...

I never see boats like this in Michigan Craig's list

http://bellingham.craigslist.org/boa/3234234224.html I enjoy seeing some of the used boats in various parts of the country. But I don't see the types of boats that interest me on Michigan Craig's lists. Probably a good thing this one isn't close, too much temptation and my money is all spoken for ri...

Re: Quintrex factory in SC - come and gone in a flash

I like their darts and dory's. The 340 car topper is used on the Kimberly Kampers which are bad off road campers. Heck, I think Steve Irwin the Crock Hunter used these tininess to catch crocks. Wish, they would have made it in the USA. It seems like a nice boat. Would like to have been able to check...

Re: DOING IT RIGHT......check this out.

I like the idea of this boat with a kicker. I could run the rivers and the inland lakes with it. http://www.outlaweagle.com/outlaw_5.html http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bxZ30XXnVLg If I was only running rivers, I'd probably go with something more like this. http://www.phantomjetboat.com/products.htm...

Re: Sharkhide Advice

Do you think it is possible to spot treat and get a good result, or would the whole hull need to be stripped and polished? You just wipe the sealer on. I don't see why you couldn't just wipe it on one area. Maybe you could just clean the spots up some and then reseal the whole boat. It's fairly eas...

Absolutely awesome!!! That is a beautiful boat! Can you tell me what all you did to get it to that point? http://www.sharkhide.com/apinfo.html there is a video in this link that shows a bit about how to polish/clean. A variable speed polisher is a must. You really want to polish slow. This w...

Re: Sharkhide Advice

You didn't tell us the "steps" you went thru, or were told about by Mr. Sharkhide. Well, jettywolf, on a boat as ratted out as this one was, it turns out you are best off starting with a DA sander. I think i started with 60 grit and worked to around 400 grit. Then, it turns out that a slo...

If I go swimming with alligators in the swamps of Louisiana and get my arm bit off. Is it really my fault? Or is it the state of Louisiana? I guess I could sue on the grounds that the state of Louisiana did not install safety mouth guards on their alligators. Think I would win? Wayne  Is it r...

I'm looking for a small, efficient, welded aluminum pilot house boat, and this design looks like the answer to my prayers... I'm guessing unobtaneum, though... I thought the same thing when I first saw it "that is the perfect small alloy" It seems like there are a few people who, for what...

I'm interested in finding a 14-16' (probably still 1 year away from a purchase) aluminum fishing boat that is tough. Nice job on the restore! BTW, did you find a threaded drain plug? Who had it and what kind of material was it made of? Scott I couldn't find anything as cool as the one that was on the boat. So, I cleaned it up good, replaced the cork seal with an o-ring and polished the plug itself. It looks as go...

Re: Tinny project.

Any good walleye and perch spots??????? The perch have been tricky lately. You really have to find them. Dropping anchor has been spooking them too, so you need to find a school and then try to stay over them. My dad and one of his friends went last weekend and didn't do anything for about 3.5 hour...
