Re: Custom build in China....Does this look like right..?
a lot of the components on the transport category aircraft we all fly on are made in China. Boeing opened a factory there 6 months ago. my dad became a Toyota dealer in 1962, the 3rd in the US, i still recall his pals slapping their knees in laughter at the thought of selling cars "made in Japa...

how thick is the affected plate? i would think that is a factor in what process could be used to restore the boat.

commercial fishermen, i know in ak use JOY dish soap on the interior of the glass. a few drops on a paper towel and give it a smear. works well. cheap too. of course, nothing beats hot.dry air blasting the glass.

Re: to windlass or not to windlass??
Since you are on the fence for a windlass, I would at least have Pacific run the wires for a windlass. Alternately, have you looked into the salt water trolling motors which can be connected to your GPS to hold your position. A friend of mine has one on a 22' boat and loves it! It is much easier an...

Re: Electrolysis
i have used some aluminum fasteners on aluminum boats since the early 90s. haven't had one break or come loose yet. then again they are not torqued to 100ft/lbs, nor are they are not holding the drivetrain together. i'll pass on using galvanized steel anywhere on my boats. cheers
