Re: Acb boat remodel center console to pilot house

I just did DIY acrylic windows and a bolt on inner frame. I did get quotes for the windows but the homemade route was just easier to do and cost alot less ( cost for all four was under $150). They will be easy to replace if I find they get to scratched up, but I don't even have wipers on yet. If I d...

Re: Acb boat remodel center console to pilot house

Thought I would add a few more photos of the semi completed project. Took a little longer and more than I thought it would but we had it in the water for this summer and had some great times on it. I gave it into a professional shipwright builder in January to help it along and they really dropped t...

Re: Corrosion resistance products

Thanks Chaps. On the subject of anodes can you have too much aluminium anode on your hull or is it more robust than being over zinced? According to boatzinc webpage xcal you need 3 times as much zinc anode in weight than you do for aluminum. https://www.boatzincs.com/anode_weight_calculation.html I ...

Acb boat remodel center console to pilot house

I was going to wait few years to do this but with covid etc had the opportunity presented to get it done now. So here are a few pictures to date and a few originals. Boat was an ex military boat that built in Bellingham by ACB, kind of a tank looking build. Fuel tank was a single 120gal tank I am re...

Hi all, been working ( well researching) on what path to take in the boat remodel I am working on ( well I have a guy doing the work) . I have the fuel tank out, acid washed the inside hull, burred out the pitting and tig filled them up. And now need to decided on if I should spray the inside hull /...

Fuel tank design / pick up tube

Looking around I don't see many options ( off the shelf) for fuel pick up tubes. Mainly only see the moeller tubes ( aluminium 90 degree head and plastic pick up tube). But reading reviews people complain about the degredation / life span. And if I were to use one would it be ok to use brass male ba...

Re: Implications of pitting repair and future prevention

Thanks Kevin, Appreciate the feedback. Maybe someday my boat will be good enough to go fishing on. I looked under the tanks belly and it seems fine, well at least the first 20" or so that I am able to assess. The pitting I will work on what I can. And post some better pictures. Should gas compa...

Re: Implications of pitting repair and future prevention

Here are some photos, I pulled up the floor boards covering the gas tank and a smaller aft floor board that was dead space ( not sealed air chamber) so I will make that storage space locker ( future fish hold locker). You can see in the one picture that shows the drain hole from the gas tank compart...

Re: Implications of pitting repair and future prevention

Hi, What would you do about pitting in areas you cannot reach? Under the gas tank on my boat there is pitting but cannot reach the area unless remove the tank which is a big process. It is about a 6ft long tank. Front side has about 3" clear along side of bulkhead and that is where I can see so...

Re: Bilge keel / strake / anode identification question

Thanks Rick. I do plan to change that this summer when boat is the water. I did Jack up the boat and inspected under the bunks area and all is fairly consistent to rest of hull. Will get the hull painted out as well hopefully this spring if not fall.

Bilge keel / strake / anode identification question

Ok on the back hull I have 2 welded on 3 ft angle aluminium looks to be 2 to 3" wide. And bolted to it looks to be long anode possibly? Anybody have any input to what these are called and if they are actually anodes or what function they have? Acb 26ft boat. Thanks

New owner for older Acb boat

Hi all, this forum is a fantastic wealth of knowledge for newbies like me. I purchased an ACB boat this winter. I believe they call it a 26ft ACB hull ( which is the length from the forward most aluminum bow edge to the boats transom). But over all the boat is 33' approx allowing for the pod, engine...
