Could be the angle but that motor looks like it could go up a hole or 3.
The plate is just underwater (like an 1/8- 1/16 deep) at plane. I worry about bringing it up any higher. It’s worth a try though, I guess.

Re: New guy here.

Had it out for it’s maiden voyage the other day. I really like this motor. Everything worked perfectly. 6100 RPMs at WOT, 43 mph, with 3/4 tank of fuel and full live well/bait well. I could probably get a little more with the right SS prop, but this things home is shallow and rocky. Jumps up on plan...

Brought my new ride home today! Thunderjet Explorer 185

Barely fits in the garage, but I managed to squeeze it in there! Now I have all winter to bolt on goodies, and sit in it while drinking beer and pretending to be trolling.

Re: Bass Pro/Cabelas entry into welded aluminum

I researched them when shopping for a boat this year. They are made by Thunderjet. All the alloys and thicknesses are the same as their corresponding model. There are some rather pedestrian money saving changes on the interior, and I have no idea what’s going on under the floor. That being said, I w...

Re: New guy here.

A Merc 115 proxs ct. i’ve always had good luck with Mercs. A 150 is max, but after taking a ride in my neighbors new 19 foot Starcraft with a normal 115 I think/hope a 115 should do fine for what I want it for. Which is a five mile run at most 90% of the time. It’s obviously a little different boat,...

Re: New guy here.

Just testing out the picture posting process. I’m sure I’ll have a bunch more when the boat gets delivered, and I’m rigging it out! Here’s a decent Walter that visited my old boat earlier in the year, when the worm harness bite was on.

Re: New guy here.

Yep, I have a place on the North shore. I’m excited/scared to see how she’s going to handle Oneida’s unique waves. As you know they are stacked on top of one another unlike many other places, making it quite sporty sometimes! Good to hear about a good report on the TJ though!

New guy here.

I’m currently waiting on delivery of my new boat, a Thunder Jet Exporer 185. Which is a toy compared to most boats here, but a nice step up from the 25 year old riveted boat I’m fishing currently. I’ve already lurked a bit and picked up some info, figured I’d register and hopefully add to the discou...
