Re: Pacific V26WA6 for sale
Welder, this Pacific appears to be the same one in Pacific's Delivery Showcase, built Jan 2012.
The only difference looks to be that they upgraded the power to a 300 Yamaha.
any idea what the intended commercial use was?

WCVI - gotta love it!
Nice Hali! We just returned from 10 days in Nootka Sound, WCVI, ...an annual adventure. With the warmer water this year ( 69F in the sound, 58F offshore ) the sound was full of mackeral and countless pilchard baitballs. The humpbacks were active every day. http://www.aluminumalloyboats.com/gallery/i...

Re: Barnacles on Aluminum/painting bottom right!
Chaps, please enlighten me. The boat was suffering from more than normal electrolysis. Based on everything else he advised me about wrt that boat, including its value and inherent electrical issues, it seemed like a credible recommendation. His view was do it right to correct the problem up front , ...

Re: Barnacles on Aluminum/painting bottom right!
I recently looked at a potential purchase that had some hull corrosion, and the surveyor recommendation was: -soda blast (messy -needs an enclosed area ) or chemical strip to remove everything to bare metal ( sandblast removes too much material and may leave a wave pattern in the hull ) -light sandi...

Re: Single Or Duals?????
My vote is for the 300 single instead of twin 150's. I just sea trialed a Kingfisher 2825 w. twin 150's. The extra transom weight was a bigger factor than I expected..... the aft sat lower in the water and this caused 2 issues a) the scuppers were at water level, so 2 guys standing on one side allow...

Re: Honda trail bikes......who's got em?
I still have the original Honda 90 engine, but the top-end tired with over 7700 miles on it, most of which came from previous owners. 3 fishing buddies have 90's...... a 72, another 77, and a 78......they take us into trophy trout lakes where the Winnebago's can't go Lots of good info here on the en...

Re: F-150 w/Eco Boost
I've been window shopping as well and got intrigued by the F-150 ecoboost. More towing capacity than my Tacoma (6500lb vs 11,300lb) , and that means I can get a bigger alloy boat ( ) My searching hasn't turned up much, other than this forum http://fordecoboostforum.com/ where they discuss the...

Re: Taxes on Canadian purchases?
On July 1 2010 there was a change to Canadian taxes: in BC it went from from GST 5% plus PST 7% on new boats, for a total of 12% to a new Harmonized Sales tax of 12%. I believe private boat sales were previously exempt but now are subject to a new 12% TDP tax. More info here http://www.boatingbusine...

Re: hydrofoil stabilizer
I have one on my 90hp 2 stroke Yamaha. the benefit to me is getting on plane quicker with load, and staying on plane using lower rpm, which theoretically should improve fuel consumption if the engine is not working as hard. it cost me 3 mph in top end WOT speed, which i don't miss because I never ru...

Re: Aluminum hull sound-proofing
Jay, I'm thinking more walkaround pilothouse style than open. I guess the only time it would really matter is if you're actually trying to sleep. underway just deal with it and know that if you want the pounding to back off , slow down. in addition to the hull foam, is there any additional soundproo...

Re: Aluminum hull sound-proofing
Bob, interesting...the cost & weight tradeoff are important factors to consider, more than i expected. i didn't appreciate how expensive soundproofing materials are. wow! interesting thought to sound treat the cabin/cuddy instead of the hull. rain, wave lap, and a few age related issues ...thats...

Re: Aluminum hull sound-proofing
nope, not a builder. didnt mean to be vague. just thinking about the sound-proofing decision if i were to have another alloy built without foam, and wondering how its done. my Kellahan is 3/16 bottom and 1/8 sides, has 4 longitudinal stringers, not too many cross ribs, is completely foamed under the...

Aluminum hull sound-proofing
Curious minds want to know :-) The hypotheses is: Aluminum hulls, while lighter, stronger, etc , can be noisier than that other stuff....hull pounding in a chop... wave slap at anchor, engine vibration, etc. Some mfg'rs spray foam, and we have the separate spray or not to spray polyurethane vs polys...

Re: High Speed Water Pickup
a lowcost alternative some old live herring bait fishermen around here have used is to re-purpose the speedometer pitot tube on the outboard. the gps has speed over ground, and the old water-pressure based speedo's aren't used much anymore. many outboards still have the built-in pitot pickup hole in...

Re: Duckworth Offshore
An exposed wood deck that is screwed down and covered with glued vinyl will eventually suffer from UV damage, the vinyl will deteriorate, the wood, even if marine grade plywood, will get exposed to moisture that seeps under the vinyl and doesn't dry, and then it will rot, or let that moisture pass t...
