Bottom Paint - Looking for Advice

Need to order another gallon of bottom paint for the boat.  I have been using Trilux 33 for the past 6 years and wondering if anyone would recommend to continue using it or have there been advancements in other brands I should consider.  I'm in CT and slip the boat between beginning of May thru mid-...

Re: Aluminum Anode - Please Help

Kevin, Thank you for your insight. You have confirmed what I thought was the right thing to do. I purchased aluminum alloy anodes - 6" x 3". The back of the boat has dedicated mounting plates for the anodes. I'm so glad you mentioned the hot dipped galvanized bolts because I lost sight of ...

Re: Aluminum Anode - Please Help

I'm in Stonington at Walkers Dock - not far from you at all. Where in Westerly are you? Are you in Greenhaven? I kept my boat there end of Oct/beginning of November last year for togging. I recall seeing a pacific there.I have 22' center console painted gray.

Re: Aluminum Anode - Please Help

Thank you - that's what I thought, it should be metal to metal contact for desired results. It's amazing how many people in the industry including some local marina's in CT believe that zinc is just fine as an anode on aluminum boats and it does not need to be in direct contact with bare aluminum. S...

Aluminum Anode - Please Help

So I have read enough about using Aluminum anodes instead of zinc on an aluminum hull. I have a 22' aluminum alloy center console. I keep the boat in a slip in salt water May thru November. I just removed the zinc anodes the marina placed on the boat last year to replace them with aluminum anodes. I...

Re: Fatigue from Aluminum Floor

Always love your posts Kevin. You certainly add great character and great reads to the site. I really appreciate the time you took to comment on my question. I must admit I was surprised more people didn't comment and started thinking its just me getting old and spending more time out during small c...

Fatigue from Aluminum Floor

Was wondering if aluminum boat owners/guests complain of leg and foot fatigue from standing on the aluminum floors. If I spend a day on my boat I can really feel it in my legs and feet. I few people who have been out with me have said the same thing. Just curious if other people experience this? sol...

Re: Bottom Paint for Aluminum Alloy Boats in Salt Water

Chaps, Thank you for the information. The primer/paint on the boat are fine - no issues whatsoever. No peeling, bubbling, pitting. Paint was labeled ECO. The only issue is the vast amount of bottom growth on the boat from sitting in salt water. I pressure washed the bottom and was able to clean off ...

Re: Bottom Paint for Aluminum Alloy Boats in Salt Water

Kevin, Thank you for your comments. I will search his posts and reach out to him if he doesn't add to the thread. Really appreciate your input, just want to make sure my boat is around longer than I am!!!! After cleaning numerous NON ALLOY boats I can't believe I didn't go alloy sooner. Have a great...

Re: Bottom Paint for Aluminum Alloy Boats in Salt Water

Thanks for the replies. My boat is in a slip, in a bay with very little current. Transom faces west, gets the afternoon and evening sun. The transom looked like an underwater reef with so much growth on it. Once I took a look at the bottom it wasn't as bad but enough growth to make it a real issue t...

Bottom Paint for Aluminum Alloy Boats in Salt Water

I realize this has been covered in previous threads but would like to solicit what experts believe is the best paint on the market now for boats slipped in salt water for six months each year. I live in CT, and have had my boat painted the past two years with epaint and I don't like the results. Wou...

I responded to the ad on Monday but haven't heard back from seller. Been looking for a 20 or 23. Still can't believe
how hard they are to come by.

Re: Pacific Skiff - WTB on East Coast

Thanks Welder. I've talked to Dan. Real nice guy and provided alot of information/pics. If the boat is still available a couple of weeks from know I'll probably take a flight and look at the boat. Sounds like he has taken really good care of it. I'm going in for knee surgery on Tuesday morning and w...

Re: Pacific Skiff - WTB on East Coast

Thanks Jettywolf. I notice the ad but we (me and seller) are almost at opposite ends of the world. The cost & time of just getting there and back and the cost to transport makes it prohibitive at least in my financial world. Thanks for the heads up. I've been looking for several years and hope t...

Re: pacific v2325 trim tabs

Hey Todd, I've talked to two owners of 23's with 150 hondas. First one said boat is slow to get on plane but moves along similar to what you're experiencing. He said if he purchased another 23 it would be w/a 225. He does not have trim tabs. I spoke to another owner who did some modifications on his...

Re: WTB 20'

Chaps, Thanks for the lead-I realize I will be very lucky to find a used Pacific but Alaska is just too far for me to think about since I'm in CT. If it was a 20' and a fire sale and all tricked out I might think about it. I'm hoping something will pop up in the lower 48. Thank you for the informati...

Clambo, I'll check craigslist asap, thank you. Jettywolf, I'm not sure who I spoke to but when I called the number on the link I asked for Huffman and some fellow spoke to me. He said the 23 was for sale and had less than 100 hours and loaded to the gills with options. Unfortunately too big for my n...

Re: WTB 20'

Dave, Thanks for the welcome and encouragement. I know deep down inside if I go glass again it will be just a matter of time before I regret it. I want to spend more time fishing and less time cleaning. Problem is I've always been anal as hell in keeping my boat/vehicle/equipment in tip top shape. I...

Re: WTB 20'

Chaps, Thanks for the welcome, I appreciate it. PacNW would be a haul BUT I'd fly out to inspect/sea trial the right boat at the right price. The issue would be I'd probably have to tack on 3-4k for shipping cross country. I spoke to Jay a few weeks ago about a used boat - he has a waiting list a mi...

WTB 20'

I figure it can't hurt to put this out there. I'm looking for a 20' black lab/pacific boat. I'm hoping someone out there has one and is thinking of moving up and this ad might provide a bit of inspiration. Please let me know-cash buyer and ready to close asap.
Thanks
