Re: Heading sensor on alloy boat
There is probably magnets in the motor. There are shielding materials. Mu-metal foil might work to shield magnetic interference. Mu metal is a nickel–iron soft magnetic alloy with very high permeability suitable for shielding sensitive electronic equipment against static or low frequency magnetic fi...

Re: Heading sensor on alloy boat
Is it consistent or all over the place? Alloy should not be the culprit. Some thing ferrous or electromagnetic. Not all stainless steel types are non magnetic if there are any near. Also on the center line of the boat is best.

Their primer (orange for metal including alloy). Two top coats. Used their roller ,but cut it in half. After the old mat was off used 3m sanding pads with an orbital sander. Washed with water wipe down with lacquer thinner.

Re: Non Skid????
My experience with sheet material was less than satisfying. Adhesion was great, but the material did not do well with the sun. UV deterioration caused it to dry out. It was a real fight to get off and the blue dust made me look like a smurf by the time it was removed. Currently Tuff Coat is applied....

Re: Advice Needed
Our boat is a Stabicraft SC759. It was an open back cabin alloy boat. I closed it in. An alloy frame, but teak instead of alloy was used for the bulkhead. Here in Florida heat is an issue. I liked the open back, but needed some security at the slip. Also the sun and wind were hard on the canvas. The ...

Re: I believe I may have violated some kind of rule.
Thanks Louie. I went with teak instead of 3/16 alloy. Here in central Florida it gets hot. Hoping to keep a more civilized cabin temp and add some security over the canvas it had.

WoW the cost to replace an EPIRB battery!
My EPIRB battery is do to be changed. Even at discounted prices. It is a stones throw from just buying a new one. I like the safety factor of having one, but wow.

Thanks for your responses. After insurance rehab was still a $100 a day. Opted to go it on my own. Feeling quite well actuality. One more month until the breast bone is fully healed. They used arteries from my arm and chest for parts. That allowed using the bike for workouts. Surgeon said "no c...

Had quadruple bypass surgery July 22. I'm thinking I'm not the only AABer to go down this path. If you have been there how long before you felt comfortable getting back to the strap winch crank?
