Re: Armstrong Cat build
Pete is correct, I had 180 gal per side. My boat had twin 300 zukes and had plenty of power, but I would think 225's would be working hard pushing a 14,000 lbs boat. Josh said 10klbs... I guess 250s are going to be an upgrade asked for..l What kind do speed/ fuel usage are you getting? Any other th...

"The extra transom weight was a bigger factor than I expected..... the aft sat lower in the water and this caused 2 issues a) the scuppers were at water level, so 2 guys standing on one side allowed a bit of water to re-enter until the ball valve stopped the flow ; and b) backtrolling into a fo...

Re: Bruce Cope has updated his website
I see on his website the pictures of kingfishers and coastal cruisers, did he disign those hulls? Yes he did. Those Coastal Craft's are probably one of the nicest alloy boats coming out of BC right now for cruising type folks. I like how he still designs boats for fisherman, lodges, and working cla...

Re: Harbercraft - Kingfisher
The big king fisher pete was talking about in Seward has some serious issues. I know the owner of the boat personally and King Fisher didn't give him very good service at all. First they lied to him telling him it was hull #12 (or something along those lines) but it was really #2 (hull number one wa...

Re: Filet knives
just about every charter out of Seward uses a Forschner #50513 for halibut and #40643 Called a "salmon sword". These knives keep an edge very well ( will last all season and if you drop it in the water, ohh well. Everyone uses a ceramic stick sharpener while cleaning fish to maintain and a...

Jetty, I figured that your experience was limited, so why do you comment on things you don't know anything about. It may be just me, but you are real abrasive when you post. "Hell, having a "walk-around" is the least of that boat's problems" now what problems does this boat have?...

Re: Big sucker
Nice looking boat peterbo3!! I wouldn't change any of those lines on her. What are the dimensions of her? Dave seems to have an opinion on just about everything on this forum, but I wonder how much experience he has in offshore boats or any boat beside his own. He doesn't like "forts", doe...

I was supposed to pick it up from Pete before I left, but I ran out of time. I'm sure he still has it and it's only lightly used:

Re: Armstrong Boats in the news
I spoke with Joe Beck from Armstrong yesterday about priming my water pump and he said they are building or built ( can't remember) another shop just to make room for all of the projects they got going on. They are a great group of guys to work with and I'm happy they are doing well.

My amrstrong is 11' wide and we tow it no problem. Get a permit ($50) and have your wife follow in your "pilot car". Flashing probe and a couple over sized signs and your on your way. good luck

Re: PNW Boat builders
Take a long look at bay weld in homer Alaska. they have one of the nicest riding hulls around and have a little but different lines from most alloys. It seems to me most alloys have rigid sharp lines, while the Bay Welds has more of a "classic" look to it. We built a Armstrong and really l...

What a great way to look at it Pete, just wait till your kids turn 18 and call Bill Azar to get their money:). Re: Who's Going to be up in Alaska with Spoiled One fishing?
sounds like a great time. Hopefully the water cooperates so we can go on the back side of Motnague and do some real shallow water butt fishing. Salmon sharks should be showing up around then too on the other side of the Sound. I hope to be able to make it and put some faces to some names. Are you go...
