Re: Before the Market tanked.
Spectra to mono/flouro connections is an important topic that is appropriately being rediscussed multiple times a year on every major fishing forums. Always here a lot of strong opinions but the most experienced ones such as captains and crews running successful charter operations recognize that the...

Re: Before the Market tanked.
I have been using Sato crimps for anything heavier than 40# for about 3 years now. I use 2 crimps of the smallest size that will fit without damaging the line spaced about 1" apart. Have used the usual two step glues and even crazy glue with zero failures to date. The Bimini to albright takes m...

Very Nice. Not sure what she is worth. Try a search of the classifieds on Bloodydecks.com. Have seen them some up from with some regularity.

Hi Jay,
You brought the Targa line of boats to me attention last year. Would that work in Alloy?

ACB 30' DIESEL
This one looks too good to be true. Listed on EBAY. 3 days to go. 2005 ACB 30' with single D6-350. 486 hours, trailer, full walk around and decent electronics. Took one ride on a similar outboard model and it was fast stable and sweet. These are as close to unsinkable as any recreational alloy out t...

Re: Cost of aluminum boats coming down?
Between the high cost of materials and deceptively large amount of labor involved in building an alloy fishing machine most builders run a very narrow margin. That said prices will come down a little as the cost of materials comes down and some of the smaller builders have to close shop. Bigger oper...

My god all the republican party needs to do is promise an alloy boat in every driveway and the democratic party will cease to exist.  . Seriously though she is easy on the eyes but I for one will take some time to size her up. First, her extremely conservative positions on hotbutton moral...

rod and reel
Hi Dave, Have seen some xxh and xxxh graphighters with wind on guides for $240 I think this past week on bloodydecks. Great for troll or standup if still available. Both Ebay and bloodydecks have occational bargains on penn international or shimano tiagra 2 speeds. Still that kind of combo will put ...

spiral wrap
I have a couple of spiral wraps and love them. Plan to get more. Positive feature is that they eliminate torque under load that a strong fish puts on you with 30# test and over. Negative. The guides are not on one side of the blank which makes me worry that they will be more vulnerable to damage, pa...

Mark it was great running into you at our not so secret fishing spot. Was really jelous of your boat. There were at least 50 boats in that zoo including a couple of tinnies but nothing as solid or handsome as your Pacific. I will have an alloy in the near future but am still not 100% sure what best ...

Good observation Dave. Looks kinda haunted. I suspect that anything entering the tunnel never comes out again  Scary part is that there is a hydrofoil in there somewhere  . But what the #%#$^ if it is built well, rides great, gets good fuel economy and I can almost afford it looking wi...

Edwing Catamaran
Saw a listing for an Edwing Cat today on the Alaska craigslist http://anchorage.craigslist.org/boa/671445362.html. Very interesting. Interesting enough that I talked to Ed today and will get more info for sure. Hull is usual 5086 with 5052 cabin. The hull is designed with an adjustable hydrofoil----...

That is too cool. If they are the fuel efficient easy to retrofit drive system they claim to be they should sell like hotcakes, particularly in diesel. Will have to contact them this week for some objective data and specifics at to which manufacturers engines they are using warranty etc.
Thanks Marty

Rods
I have one of his rods, an acid wraped 130# stick for standup giant yellowfin. Every bit as beautiful in person as in pics. Remarkably his prices are about the same or LESS than the price of a stock rod with less desirable guides, grips etc.. He is a true artist. Only uses the best blanks.

Saw a listing for a 30' 2000 alloy cat made by Island Boats in Louisiana. Anyone know anything about them? Currently build larger cats and monos for cruise line tenders and sightseeing.

If you don't have in deck fish boxes for have coolers that will be used as seating I am a big advocate of high quality kill bags. Unless you have an exceptionally well insulated box or cooler a good kill bag will provide more bang for the buck. Are great on a swimstep just tied to a cleat or two. Ke...
