double trouble... could be!
Agree, expensive re-power. But, it is a cool looking boat.

Here's an interesting find for all you plate alloy boys:

If I had the coin I would be all over this one - looks like a stout rig with all the comforts of home.

Re: back on the water...
Added some refinements to the boat. Some shade, a bait tank/leaning post, Raymarine A65, and a vhf radio. Lookin' good and workin' fine. We (the wife and I) entered the local fishing derby yesterday but didn't have much luck. No, that's not true - we had BAD luck! There were three categories - marli...

Re: back on the water...
Very kind words, thanks guys! I'll post some pics on the next trip out - we had a couple of summer storms blow by but it looks like next week is going to be good for fishing. You are right, when the fishing bug bites it never goes away. I'm loving the simplicity of the panga and I'm super happy to b...

back on the water...
A lot of time has gone by and thought I would say hello. Sold the Pescadora over a year ago. At first it wasn't that rough but this season not having a boat really got to me. Now, I'm back on the water! Sorry, not one speck of aluminum on the boat - I scored a simple old panga and hung an '03 60hp M...

Re: SOLD 23' Bayrunner for sale
La Pescadora has sold! Bitter sweet to say the least. I'll miss her but I know she'll take good care of her new owner.
Thanks to everyone for the great advice and feedback. I'll continue to lurk around and toss my two cents in from time-to-time.

Re: 23' Bayrunner for sale
No worries, always happy to throw out my two cents worth. Durabak is great and for my boat I didn't want to go cheap but I've seem some fine results in truck beds with Herculiner - they sell it at PepBoys out west. I'll post some pics for you next time I go fishing, the corvina bite is on right now ...

Re: 23' Bayrunner for sale
Hola Jettywolf, That Durabak is the shizzle. Had to use a primer but it stuck like glue and has really held up well. I rolled it on and it was a pretty easy project - I would highly recommend it. You prep it just like a truck bed - scuff up the area to paint, paint on the primer, roll on the durabak...

Re: 23' Bayrunner for sale
All is well, thanks. I'll get another boat, eventually. Priorities have changed for now and I'm not using the boat as much as one should so it's time to pass her on to someone else. Someone is going to score a great ride, for sure.
Happy Holidays everyone!

SOLD 23' Bayrunner for sale
The sad day has finally arrived... La Pescadora has been sold! We'll miss her but it looks like she has landed in good hands. Going boatless for a while, not sure how long I'll be able to last without one. Thanks to everyone for the great advice and feedback. Tight lines and fair weather. Merlin Wel...

Re: Back on the action!
Those dorado fillet's were something else. And, the abalone was incredible. I was lucky to score some - it's sold to the broker before it hits the beach and it's super expensive even here. Lucky me, I was able to swing an offshore deal. Add some road kill and you've got the perfect surf and turf!

Fish are finally here. Ran out twenty the other day and came upon some really nice fish. Caught a ton and kept four 15 to well over 30 pounds. Really nice day - HOT, sunny and calm. http://i271.photobucket.com/albums/jj145/bajafshrman/beauty.jpg Yeah, I know... nice face! I guess it's getting harder...

Re: Where are all the West Coast reports?
Yeah, that's the old man - I still got a few left in me. The surf has been really good this year. Water is warm, too - up to about 80 now. Our annual fishing derby was yesterday so we motivated and launched the boat. Found some blue water and tons of fish but they were all small. One kelp paddy was ...

Hi Guys, Sorry for the hiatus, we've been busy building another casita at the homestead. It's also taken a very long time for the water to get warm this year. It's HOT now and the fishing is coming on so I'll have some new fishing reports to share soon. Anyway, I'm ready to upgrade the mechanical st...

It's true, it's true... I'm cryin' the blues! But, like you've pointed out, the alternative is way worse. That's it, offshore sucks so I'm gonna drive up to the estuary and hunt for some halibut.
Enjoy the season!

Well, the fishing has been off this year - cold and green water all around. Haven't launched the boat for about three weeks. Sure is funny how every year is so different - last year the tuna were in thick at this time. Oh well, at least I know what to ask Santa to bring me - awesome fishing in twent...

Damn, jealousy makes you nasty!
I am spoiled and lovin' it! Wish I could say it was that good every time I go fishing but, like everyone else, the good days deserve to get shared. Besides, come on down and let's go fishing!

Welcome to Hooville!
We wait all year for everything to come together. We have to run 45 miles in our tin boats so we look for all the conditions to line up - weather - wind - moon - tides - and, of course, FISH! Launching off the beach is always interesting but in the dark it's even more exciting so we decided to ancho...

Summer Derby
Hi all! The fishing has really come on now with warm and very blue water. Every summer there's a big fiesta here to help support the Turtle Conservancy. Awareness is the goal - educating the locals on different ways to fish so they can manage the fishery more efficiently. Mostly, it really just feel...

Re: Fish on!
Thanks guys! It was a good fight and has made for several mighty tasty meals. I brought a marlin into the spread yesterday and was hoping for another post-worthy photo but no luck. There are tons of them swimming around this year so maybe we'll have more luck next week. We have some surf this weeken...
