Re: CATAMARAN vs MONOHULL

Give Josh or Corey Armstrong a call. I have nothing but good things to say about them with my cat build last year. They are coming up to Anchorage to take care of a couple issues for me here this month. I love the boat and outperforms my old boat ( 2007 30' SeaSport Offshore with twin D-4) in almost...

Re: Here Kitty Kitty

What does that boat cost? My guess is $175K the way it sits. I looked at them (Cats) at their shop. Great guys up there and a good builder of cats. A 25’ Cat at the time (2004) was about $150K. Too bad Andy is out of business. :banghead: No way it cost $175,000. We built one a year ago ( 30'x11') a...

I have the roll on non skid on our cat and it works great. The only problem is that chipping it, the non skid doesn't like metal hitting it.

Re: Last shrimping trip of the season

I took my uncles out a couple days before my wedding in August outside of Nuka Island and bagged a 211lbs and 210lbs. the 210 was 76" long and the 211 was 74" long, I guess length isn't everything, at least that what I've told :). A good year in general for me and the family I'd have to go look at m...

Re: Last shrimping trip of the season

looks like another nice season for you and the family. I got to meet up with you around the 15th of April and show me how to do that shrimping thing :). Looks like fall has come and winter isn't too far away, oh well at least we can look at the boats until spring.

Re: maxweld boats

I know a person who had some very large cats built from him recently and he was using his money to pay for other things then boat building. he finally got his boats( through some teeth pulling), but said he thought maxweld was done.

Re: boat search plastic to alloy

I'm sure you can get that boat done quickly because I don't think they are that busy right now. You pay them weekly, and on your last payment the boat is done. My boat took 8-10 weeks, and was only 10 days behind schedule. Also get the T- transom if you're getting outboards, it gives you o much more ...

Re: alloy vs grp/composite

I choose to sell my glass boat for alloy for many reasons. - I got nephews and 1-3lbs. halibut weights hitting the gunnel used to piss me off, but you can't scream at a 5 year old :)and make him not want to go out fish. - Dad is getting older and sitting on the pick in 5' swells didn't do it for him...

Re: boat search plastic to alloy

I wonder what the Armstrong 25 cost? Anyone have a rough idea? They have a fishermen model and a weekender model that look identical from the outside. There are no pictures of the interior of the weekender on their site. Man...I love that boat. I'll be happy to answer any of the questions you have ...

The boat weighs somewhere in the 12,000- 12,500 lbs. range. Yeah it looks huge behind t hat truck doesn't it, I ma...

Re: Pics of new Cat #2

the motors felt great. they had more than enough power and were very smooth. It was refreshing to not hear and smell the diesel motors while running, and being able to have a conversation while running is nice too :). One thing that I noticed after 10 hours of running ( mostly by myself) is alloy is...

Re: Pics of new Cat #2

Thanks everyone. It was a good trip and learned a lot more as far as the handling of a cat. "Looks great on the water! I like the name, also. When will she arrive up north? I would love to take a tour. Cats have piqued my interest." She'll go on the ship Tuesday and be here a week from today, Sunday...

Re: Pics of new Cat #2

no it's a kensimatic(sp) like my anchor... it's hydraulic. I wish I could take the trip, but we don't do a lot of fence and guardrail in the winter :). I'll be down there this Friday, c-trial on Saturday and Sunday.. then it goes on the barge Tuesday and then it'll be in anchorage and in possession ...
