Re: That Time Is Apon Us Again !
Hi All !
Hmmm saw a large alloy being pulled out of Tyler Point in Providence the other day . Did not look like a Pacific ....
It was a I/O powered hull with a alloy pilot house on it . Looked pretty neat but older . Pulled out and went onto 195 west .
Anyone know ?

Hey Clambo ! Good to here from you.....I use antisieze on the trailer studs and just renew each year. That briny shure screws things up ! I rinse everything well with fresh after I pull out but it all needs maintenance as you know. Trailers just take a beating. So you got got yourself a zero angle s...

That Time Is Apon Us Again !
Hi All ! Well its that time to go play in the briny once again ! Just last season we were all talking about the crazy fuel prices ! How far will they go ? Looks like we may be seeing $4.30 to $4:50 when this bubble pops this year. How is everyone going to cope any ideas ? Been mapping shorter distan...

Re: Re-Power my 22.5ft Ironwood Aluminum
Peter: Sounds like you could go with slightly more wheel on your engines since you easily hit 6K RPM . However You also say that your hull planes flat out (bow down) . That is my very first indicator of under wheeled or you can not trim the engines to lift the bow with cavitation if I am correct. Yo...

Re: Re-Power my 22.5ft Ironwood Aluminum
Hi All: Looked at this post and I thought that those engines looks a wee short for a Deep V bottom. Props look a wee shy for twin engines too. Twins usually have a good amount of pitch to em. How much weight do your Hondas have to push and plane ? If your current setup can hit 6K in RPM then you nee...

Re: Ford 6.7 Liter !
Hi All ! Well the mill (engine) has to be replaced. Def water damage ..... not only shattered compression rings but we have bent con rods and broken wrist pin bosses. Funny no water in the air box either but the tell tale is the clean piston tops. Water even a dab a doo in diesels is deadly. Good ne...

Ford 6.7 Liter !
Did not take long .....our company had its first major failure with a 6.7 L in a 450 Super Duty.
Broke top compression rings in several cylinders. Got to pull the data from the control unit and see what is up.
Was not a overfuel issue .....thinking someone took a mad dash through a big puddle .

We have spoke on this very subject happening here in the NE waters . Hi Guys: Welder thanks for the help on the pass word. Did not know you were a Lineman either . Love the trade , my father was a lineman for 32 years. Jetty thanks for taking care of the double post. Diesel ! Diesels ! Diesels !
Hi All ! Have had my head burried in the snow . Sorry... I see some have had some questions on Diesels. Winterize and dewinerize and stuff like that. I will keep it short. Diesels have a major benefit over gas engines for diesels have not a ignition system. Diesels do have a very very precise fuel s...

Re: Gas-a-hol.....E-15 approved!
Let me give you a little inside info ! About 10 or 12 years ago there were thousands of underground holding tanks replaced. Those tanks are made of reinforce NON ALLOY. There were rated for a handling and exposure of gasoline with a max content of 10% ethenol. I just spoke with a fuel supply rep abo...

Hi All ! Good news !!!!! Re: VHF recommendation
To explain a little more ......what you will be setting up for is VHF (very high frquency) VHF does not neeed a huge antenna to be resonant (match) so the groundplane will be smaller also. your hull is big so it will cover that without a problem. SSB is generally run in the HF (high frequency ) long...

Re: VHF recommendation
Don't worry ......you got a bunch of groundplane with just the hull itself. It would be full effect with a bare hull but its still going to make a huge difference on a alloy hull. Its a radio operators dream ......and with big power a nightmare too . you can get transiant voltage but you don't have ...

Re: VHF recommendation
I gotcha on that buddy.....i have seen some messes on boats over the years. No wonder why the manufactures put current limiting devices in todays VHF radio finals. There would be more cooked radios if that were not the case. On the water you turn the tranciever on and key up without a worry ! Hams ....
