Re: Painting the deck?

The surface has about the feel of 600 wet/dry sandpaper Sounds nice. Sounds like it should be a factory option. How about anyone else with an older Pacific hull - how's the deck paint holding up ? Would love to see pics. I'll post my rear deck pic again (it's in the thread re: hull leaking), just t...

Re: Painting the deck?

After blasting you can decide if you want to paint it or not. I leave them bare as there is no slip and no maintenance. Really Chaps ? How rough is your deck if it's bare ? Got any pics of what it looks like ? I'll ask around for the blaster, but unfortunately, everything in these parts(Eastern Lon...

Painting the deck?

I'm to the point where painting the deck on my 1925V is a necessity. I've searched the forums and have seen references made to painting, but it seems that no one has posted their actual experience with it. I've got the FarWest paint and primer recommended by Julie @ Pacific. I'm sure there are detai...

Re: V1925 water in hull

You can get the paint from Pacific I believe but if you are planning on repainting the whole deck you might consider some type of truck bed liner paint you can buy at an auto store. I looked at a 23' Pacific last year that had been painted that way and it looked pretty, there was one for sale on he...

Re: V1925 water in hull

Went out for 4 hrs this morning - just took a look in the hatch and only a handful of water in there, which leads me to believe that the water from the last outing WAS residual water from either the foam or nooks and crannies in the hull. OR, as it was alot calmer today and no water came onto the ha...

Re: V1925 water in hull

MacCtd - are the scuppers the same design on the transom side ? How old is your boat ? It looks like you did a good job cleaning the area where the bait well was, and your deck paint looks to be in great shape...

Re: V1925 water in hull

OK, pics of das Boot... No hatch near the leaning post on my 1925V, just the one in the pic. My hull # is in the 70's , so pretty early on. Seems as though changes were constantly occurring on the early serial #'s. One pic shows the scupper tube height -1/4" above the deck, so that there's alwa...

Re: V1925 water in hull

Yes, only used in salt water. Sea trialed last night - 1 2/2 hr on the water. pulled the plug and a gallon+ came out. On the 1925v , Pacific builds a stern wall (I'm sure it's called something else, but I don't know what it is) so that there is a pseudo swim platform before the transom (see photo fr...

Re: V1925 water in hull

welder bob, thanks for the offer. If it comes down to repairs, I'll more than likely need someone with your expertise... Update: plugged the scuppers yesterday and filled the deck with water up to the console- with the tilt of the boat, there was 4-5 inches of water against the stern wall. Just open...

Re: V1925 water in hull

Welder - but doing a vacuum with soapy solution will draw the bubbles inside the hull, won't it ?

I'll take your word for it not to pressurize, but I would think that'd be the only way to see bubbles on the deck/hull...

Re: V1925 water in hull

Broadcove - good points. Although if there was a leak in the underside of the hull toward the bow, it may not have leaked out as my driveway is sloped and I almost always park her stern low. Implausible, I know... It looks like I won't get out until Sun. now, so we'll see what happens then. Chaps: I...

Re: V1925 water in hull

The hull was not leaking (in any obvious way) while on the the roller trailer.
But I like the red food dye idea - I'll try that today and let you know...

Won't get to put the boat into the ocean until the weekend...

Re: V1925 water in hull

I don't know what kind of foam for this early hull, but accordingly to Blacklab's Q&A blog, they use polyurethane. From the blog: "You also asked about corrosion between the foam and the alloy hull. This sort of corrosion is called "poultice" corrosion. It has nothing to do with t...

Re: V1925 water in hull

SJD- I did pull the hatch just after pulling the drain plug. Water close to the top of the fuel tank (32 gal. in the earlier models !) Of course I wondered why I never looked in there before, but will be sure to check often now... The hatch seems to be in good shape, no cracks that I could find. I a...

Re: V1925 water in hull

Ok, I managed to pull the 1/4" plug with little difficulty, just a allen key as recommended - out comes a strong stream of water. After 40 or more minutes, I measured roughly 110 Gallons of water ! Which is roughly 800+ lbs ! No wonder she crawled like a dog... The whole time I'm wondering how ...

Re: V1925 water in hull

SJD,
did you, after the WD-40, use a hex key to pull the plug, or need something more substantial, like a hex wrench (or hex key on a socket wrench) ?

Re: V1925 water in hull

Yeah, on this version of the V1925, the armstrong is the only access - I was surprised reading other topics on this forum that there was a bilge pump in other models- the selling point of mine seemed to be it's sealed deck. I will open the armstrong tomorrow am (making dinner now for the fam) and le...

Re: V1925 water in hull

Thanks for the quick reply. Should I use a impact hammer wrench to try and free the plug, or is it too soft an alloy (i assume it's aluminum) to be heavy handed with ? I've never seen PB Blaster, but I'll ask for it... There's an Armstrong(?) hatch for the gas tank which I'm about to open, but that'...

V1925 water in hull

I've got an early hull of the Pacific V1925 that I bought used a few years ago. I''ve only been out twice this year and I noticed that it was feeling sluggish, especially on the holeshot. Once on a plane, things seemed fine but falling off a plane at slower speeds brought the bow up in a way I didn'...
