Re: New to alloy site
Great job! I love the boat. I second Fraser Bronze (great, great people who've been casting for 50+ years) - they pour the cleats for Pacific and many other PacNW builders - get the 10" cleats if possible. The hole in the center is big enough to get a good sized loop through. Paint? You're gonn...

Tim Huskins - Rest in Peace
For those of you who knew a member both here and on THT named "Nuke" I wanted to let you know that he recently and unexpectedly passed away. His name in real life was Tim Huskins and he was a very nice man. He had a heart attack and was gone. He and I met when he bought a boat from me abou...

Re: Pacific 1925 with 90hp Honda
Boat looks great. Sometime when you're up you should come down through the locks - my wife's family has a place on Sebago in Raymond - love to meet you. The first 19' Pacific that came east ( the first 19' Pacific at all!) I put a 200hp Yamaha 2-stroke on and raced in the lobsterboat races - just a ...

Re: Beam for casual towing?
Thanks, 21ftcc - great answer! I've towed the RS34 from Texas to Miami to Maine to Virginia to Maine to Pompano Beach (on the water from Pompano to Virginia Beach by H20) and then, finally to Cocodrie, LA - lots of miles. Getting permits is much easier than it seems and isn't expensive - it is an ex...

If you guys get the contract think about relocating the plant up here. Lots of experienced alloy boat builder personnel and eng...

Re: Aluminum hull sound-proofing
Steve, As you point out we are discussing polyurethane foam in another thread but the substance speaks directly to your question. When in an open, plate-built alloy boat I don't find the need for sound-proofing very high. The wind noise, engine noise etc makes the hulls sounds pretty unnoticeable. A...

Re: USCG RB-S Video
John, They give them to state, county and municipal agencies which actually kills sales of boats to these prospective customers - arrgh! The replacement boats will be a bit longer with the limiting factor being able to fit into a C-130 on the trailer and with outboards. The total length for the prop...

Re: Polyurethane vs Polystyrene in Hulls
Pjay - thank you for being open minded. Also from: http://www.uscomposites.com/faq_foam.html#14 Is this foam water resistant? Yes, but with the following caveat. The foams that we sell are considered closed-cell, which means that each cell that makes up the foam structure is completely closed off fr...

Kevin, Thank you for the reply - and, as usual, you are smarter, by far, than me. We're lucky to have you on this board. Why does Pacific foam? As silly as it seems I have never really thought about the question before.... Now that I've thought about it... When I began working with Pacific I asked i...

Re: Polyurethane vs Polystyrene in Hulls
Chaps - is there a place in these hull (I know that there isn't on Whalers) for the water to go? Does the foam sit in the very bottom of the boat - surrounded by water or can the water move down - away from the foam to be removed. I know that the foam we use is USCG approved and has passed their &qu...

Jay well said and explained for all of us to understand! THX!! I had a Hewescraft (alloy) I bought used and tore it apart as the deck was mushy. I found poured in foam that appeared OK... Jetty and Matt, We'll definitely hook-up. Jetty,
Team Texas will be watching the BLM farm - we have two boats being built right now so it ticks along in this economy but not like pre-2008.
This trip is a bit of a make it up as you go along - so no real timeframes or agendas other than to meet LE, etc...
