Ironwood: Good post – It clearly shows that there is no single “Right Answer”. The debates over I/O vs. Outboards, singles vs. twins, Gas vs. diesel and especially single I/O vs. twin outboards has been going for ever and will continue to go on until someone invents the “Perfect” power system for bo...

Jim: I may be starting a firestorm, but here goes. IMHO the F-225s are not one of the best motors Yamaha ever made, in fact they may be one of the worst. Same weight as the F-250 but far less HP and worse mileage- lots of technical reasons for this. I have read on multiple forums the F-225 is closer...

Please refresh my feeble memory. Is Patience a 29' X 9 1/2' or is she a 30' X 10' ? I can't remember.

SO Congratulations on the splash! You're a better man than me - I would have waited a week or so - Glad all went well. A couple of questions: How much fuel did you have on board? Did you have all three tanks full? How about water and gear? The reason I ask is if you were light you may not be that fa...

Ironwood: The boat was designed and built as a serious cruising and fishing boat with lots of creature comforts. While most people think of an aluminum boat as strictly for fishing we wanted something more because we have so many isolated, beautiful places to explore. Additionally, since some of the...

Numbers

Spoiled One ask What kind of numbers are you getting with the 300's? . Steve tried three sets of Suzuki 3 Blade Stainless Steel props during the sea trails and ended up with the 16" x 18.5", 250 gal gas, 50 gal water and two folks. Don't forget she is 34' to the transom with an additional ...

Dream Catcher - Splash!!

Dream Catcher hit the water for Sea Trials this week - here are a few pictures. We will be going up for the acceptance inspection in a couple of weeks and then she will go to Seattle to be put on a barge for the trip to Alaska. We should have her up here in about a month. :D :D :D http://i254.photob...

Spoiled One: Good catch on the axle ratio - on the 2008 if you get the Duramax/Allison you can't order the 4:10 like you could several years ago. The drive trains are the same in the 2500 and 3500. A couple of other differences: You can get a 3500 with single or dual rear wheels, the 2500 only comes...

Folks – I have to chime in here. I’m sorry, but I just don’t see the need for a 1 ton dually to pull a conventional, triple axle, boat trailer. If you check the specs you will find you don’t get much more pulling capacity and if you use the recommended 5% - 7% tongue weight, which will equal about 1...

SharkHide

Now that Longranger has opened up the discussion on making/keeping an alloy boat looking good I have to ask if any of you folks have used SharkHide on your boats? One of the many reasons I went aluminum is the lack of maintenance required for the hull but then you, at lease I do, still want a nice l...

Additionally, the adhesive lined heat-shrink completely seals the terminal and adds support for the wire. Have not actually done any wiring with them yet, but I...

The problem is I can't find a crimping tool or die to fit my AMP crimpers that will work on the uninsulated terminals. So what I have found is I can use the smaller insulated terminals and get a good cr...

Peter: How do you like the "Euro" strips for the GA 0183 wires? - it seems like a lot of folks use them. I just don't like the idea of screwing the screws down directly on the small wires, but finding ring terminals small enough is a challenge. I think I have found some and if I double the...

Peterbo - NICE WORK!! What are you using (if anything) for your NMEA 0183 connections? Do yo have a box like the two power distribution boxes for the 0183 connections or are you using a standard terminal block?

SO - A couple of questions:

Did you or Scott weigh Patience when you moved her out of the Northway Mall?

If not are you going to weigh her? If so I would like to know what she weighs.

What are you using for a tow vehicle?

SO We will primarily be working our of Seward since I have a slip down there. But since she is trailerable, at least I think she will be, I will be going to Whittier on occasion. We normally go to Valdez for a couple of weeks in August for Silvers. Not sure if I will haul it or drive her this year.
