Nothing better that beer and cashews out on the water just before sun up.

Re: repowering 60-75hp recommendations

I have a 60HP Yamaha on my Alumaweld, and a Honda 150 on my other boat. The Honda is a nice motor. The Yamaha is just a jewel. I would get the Yamaha.

Yeah a single 556 hp outboard....."let's get Ludicris!!!"
Hey, he went with twin 250s. This would give him better performance and probably better economy.

Re: Chartplotter advice needed

What functions are you having trouble with? For one, I would like to have the chart on full screen with the depth in a little box as a number as I can do on the Garmin 740S. As it is now, I have to have a split screen to also have my depth. The radar is hard to use. I get two speed and mileage read...

Re: Chartplotter advice needed

I've been pretty impressed with the raymarine 57d. It's seems to be the perfect size for me. It takes a little bit of getting used to, but once you figure out how to do everything on it, it's rather easy to use. One of these days I'll actually read the instructions, and find out what it really can ...

My cup holder came today. I'm not going to put it on the big boat. I have a great spot for it on the Alumaweld. Busy for a couple of weeks, but will put it on soon. Gotta keep Momma happy.

Re: Lone Star 21' Cruise Master w/pics

I went and took a look at this boat today. It seems to be pretty much as he said. Basically a pretty tough boat. Strong hull. It has what is called a warped hull design, which is a sharp entry deadrise that flattens out in the stern. No reverse chine will help the ride. The helm is farther back than...

Re: Tallon Systems

My wife has been complaining that our big boat doesn't have any cup holders. Looks like a great product. I just ordered one from Bill in Washington. I'll evaluate it after I get it.

That would have been fun I think. The DW will get better. Issues will be fixed and you still have the boat and the means to travel. Just do the tour in the camper pulling the boat to all of the sights and locations  We won't be able to do the tour, but we will dunk the boat in a lot of wat...

Re: Chartplotter advice needed

I'm going to take the boat down to West Marine to see what will fit. On a 16 ft boat, I am more interested in navigation than fish finding, however it would be nice to know how shallow the water is. When I run aground, I just jump out and push it into deeper water. A 7 to 10 inch unit is as big as I...

Chartplotter advice needed

I am finally going to put a chartplotter on my Alumaweld. I want as large a unit that will fit on the dash. It needs to have an internal antenna and be able to be removed easily when I'm not using it. I want it very user friendly. I have a Raymarine C70 on the other boat, and I really don't like it....

Chaps, you are so right. 20 years ago I expected something entirely different for retirement. Oh, well!!!! Welder, that is the type of trip I was thinking about. Jetty, that tour is circumnavigating the Eastern half of the United States by boat. Up the East coast, through the Erie Canal, the Great L...

A new era

I retired last Friday. We were going to do the Great Loop Tour on our big boat. Lasted two days. Health, physical, space problems and more. It would have been a bad 6 months. The day after we got home, my wife had a heart episode, so it was good that we are home. We are now going to travel around wi...

Re: New to this site, but not alloy boats.....

Welcome to AAB. Very nice boat. Hewscraft was at the top of my short list when I bought my boat. I wound up with an Alumaweld that is smaller but looks similar to your boat. I know how you feel about driving a long way to buy your boat. I had to drive 1220+ miles to pick mine up at the closest dealer.

Re: Wallas Heater problems?

I just got another boat with a Wallas stove/heater combo. I know it is a diesel heater, but I have also heard people running kerosene, #1 diesel, Coleman fuel, etc. What is the best to keep it running clean?
