Unfortunately the new diesels are so tweaked out for emissions control that the manufacturers won't honor warranties if you run biodiesel and I can't imagine trying to get the new engines to run on straight waste vegetable oil. I don't know how it is all going to shake out, go to thedieselstop.com a...

I doubt that Ford will be making the engine compliant with biodiesel but if it is you would be better off making your bio from used cooking oil than growing a crush crop.

My Maxweld cat was painted and having to be careful about doing anything that would chip or rub thru the paint kind drove me crazy and basically defeated one of the primary reasons I like aluminum boats and that is they will take abuse with very little cosmetic penalty if left bare. I think Roger, t...

Oh yeah, kingsalmon on the video, makes my corpusles begin to vibrate and the palms of my frittatas break out in a cold sweat . . . god I like to catch those fish. Is that water 40.7°? Dang, that is chilly, I think we are at about 47° down here in the tropics of Seattle right now.

They are always eventually going to oxidize and get crusty looking no matter how nicely you buff them up, nature of the beast I guess. Coatings will wear thru at the waistline, etc. A buddy of mine had a guy who polishes big rig tanker trucks do his boat at what seemed like a reasonable cost a few y...

Dave, thats a lingcod and yes, on some of them the meat has green/turquoise streaks of color running thru it though it doesn't seem like the fish up in Alaska have that as much as the cod down here in WA/OR. Absolutely the finest eating fish in our waters IMO, take it over salmon or halibut most day...

Thats a fishy looking deal, no, have not heard of it but I can't say I pay a lot of attention to cutting edge tackle. That said, up here some of the jigs you see people use look like nothing more than a short bar of aluminum or stainless and they still catch fish like crazy so not sure the Lucasnazz...

Beautiful rig, just remember where those are coming from and we can cut off the supply anytime we feel like it. Its called the alloy cartel and just think of Washington State as the Saudi Arabia of fine metal boats. A little bit of groveling and begging will keep the pipes open . . .

Hah, I do miss the fishing down there but not much else (OK, the weather was a bit better too)

Do you mean the LeBlanc boat shop up in Canada or is it a local outfit to you? It would be cool if you could post up the photos and info about the boat in the "Boat show pictures" forum as it deserves a write-up in a spot where more people would see it and we could give Doc back his thread.

Might have to dust off my downriggers, start brining some herring and tuning up the side-scan sonar with the auto-hook feature with that bad boy dangling out there . . . that is a beaut and probably the one that has been showing up at the winter shows. Am I required to keep all the decals if I win it?

That is a nice little boat, really like how the asymmetrical hulls allow it to turn like a monohull.

One of the members here, Bullshipper, is getting set-up to build alloy cats in Mexico. You might PM him to get his latest info.

Roger, There are very few small cats in aluminum. Here is a 21 from Munson and you get a landing craft configuration thrown in with the deal which can be pretty handy http://www.billmunsonboats.com/21scholley_bowgo.JPG They will build them without the house and rig it for a tiller motor if you want ...

Welcome to the forum! I'm not sure I understand the aversion to drilling a hole in an aluminum boat for a thru-hull transducer. Unlike a cored glass boat there is nothing to rot and if the location doesn't work out you just weld it up and put a new hole somewhere else. That said, the problem as I se...

You think you've got problems with decals? The LaConner in my sig has huge letters that are 20 years old and they don't want to come off with any amount of heat or solvent. Its gonna take a sanding disc . . .

I saw one of those the other day on the steelhead river I posted about and it was beautiful. The backwards seating does a couple of things. For one it keeps your clients faces from being exposed to 40 mph sub-freezing wind as you make your way up the river at 5:00 am in January. Also for back trolli...

Is that what the Rock Salt boat is for . . . strictly tournaments? I was thinking it might appeal to the average wealthy weekend warrior who might care about fuel bills but I don't know sheet when it comes to the world of Nascar Fishing.
