insulated kill bags
Do any of you guys have experience with insulated kill bags? I am looking at these: http://www.charkbait.com/cs/csdKillBags.htm The purpose would be to free up deck space. I will be using them for both groceries and the sea's bounty. Are they as effective as coolers? Currently I use 150 quart coolers.

Re: 95 Armstrong; To expensive?
Looks to be a "big" 21 footer. Armstrongs are well built. It kicks the shet out of any production 21-24 foot boat for big water IMO. You really cannot compare it to a Hewes/Raider. What does a new one spec out at?

Looking great, John. I really like the way the bow rails have turned out. Very, very nice. I cannot remember if you covered this earlier or not. Are you painting the interior? Pete No Pain----------t Interior will have paneling over insulation. Insulation will be 1.5" foam board. Pa...

Re: The Journey Begins
Pete the Cuddy is 6.5" long and about 90" wide in the back but the frames make it smaller. Be sleeping in it Kaddywampas in it that is for sure. As June would say It is what it is That will work fine, especially if you are tired. Do you have room to hang cots in the berth like I did? It's...

You will love that Bostrom seat, John. Very comfortable. I like the bow pulpit. It really adds to the look of the bow. How long and wide is the cuddy?

Re: Foam OR No Foam?
Excellent experience, Kevin. You have a way with words. I felt as if I were white knuckling right next to you! I have seen some river sleds that have opened up, but never a blue water, alloy hull compromised. I saw a 30' GC, like mine, after it hit a well marked can opener rock at 30+ knots. It took...

Nice pics, guys. So did the little guy get into any fish, Lester? Is that pup a springer?
Looks like the makings of some fish tacos, Paul.

Re: New builder on Vancouver Island
I have a 37" sleeve length and can barely touch the water. No big thang, really. I love all the freeboard. I really like the looks of that hull. A walk around wouldn't work for us Alaskans. We need a BAF (big assed fort).

I am not opposed to rafting up with a Tolman this summer. We keep the ESPAR running all the time. Momma likes to keep warm.

Paul, you will like the Hercules blank. I have fished it a lot with a 12 and 16 ounce lead head and could use a 24 ouncer without issues. Very light, yet plenty of power. On a side note, I hear the homeroid has been put in "time out" for the next three months.

Re: Any rod builders?
I have really enjoyed the Seeker Hercules GTS 70H you wrapped for me. Fantastic sensitivity and lots of low end grunt when needed. The 100 pounder I caught with it didn't even give it a workout. http://i257.photobucket.com/albums/hh205/mojomizer/patience5.jpg http://i163.photobucket.com/albums/t298/...

Re: Essential Tackle For Alaska
Pete ever try the copper pipe jig with a 9" white B2 Squid about 2' above the jig. #12 treble hook on the jig and a 10/0 hook and a couple of spacer beads in the squids belly to keep the hook in the tenicales. The Jig hitting the bottom calls the lings and Butts and they will hit the B2 that is...

Re: Twin Yamaha 150's powerful enough?
I think that is a perfect match for that boat. Propped correctly I suspect you will be able to plane her on one. They sell the 22 Hewes OP with a 115 up here in AK and it planes. Way underpower IMO, though. Those NR are nice rides.

Hey Paul. Welcome to AAB. We did this trip last July and had a blast. I posted the videos of the trip that IN2DEEP edited over on AOD the other day. Check them out there if you have a chance. They can also be seen here: viewtopic.php?f=20&t=4321
