Re: Not mine, but wanted to share 28' Armstrong mono
I paid considerably less, but if you were to get a quote today from Armstrong for a new one just like this it would be in the $260-280k range The seller is asking for a bit more than they paid. A 2010 boat with less equipment and 500 hours sold a few months ago at $190k in 3 days... :soap: I know I ...

Not mine, but wanted to share 28' Armstrong mono
http://www.yachtworld.com/boats/2013/Armstrong-Marine-Expedition-28-2868797/United-States#.Vb_FtPCKl2Q I am very familiar with this boat as it is almost a mirror image of mine. Biggest differences are power, electronics and where the entry to head is. I know that there is room to negotiate on this b...

Re: Edge Marine Sport OS
We have an Armstrong 28' monohull.. We went up made a 10 day loop of Bedwell Harbor, Otter Bay, Ganges (all in BC) down to Friday Harbor, with a stop in Kingston the first and last nights to give us an easy time through the locks. The trip was planned around swimming pools, and ice cream... and crab...

HEY NEIGHBOR!!!! I live around the corner and have been admiring your boat when you have it in front of the house. Can't keep it your driveway and that pickup is tight in the garage already  We just got back in town after 10 days of cruising in our boat. I live on 100th&163rd, but keep the...

Re: Metal Chassis Equip. grounding?
How would you isolate the engines from the hull? If you look at any Furuno equipment the power cables are shielded. There is also a dedicated connection point on their equipment for those shields. All in the interest of reducing interference. That connection point IS chassis ground as well. Another ...

Re: Metal Chassis Equip. grounding?
Mounting brackets, enclosures (DC refrigerator, AIS transponder etc.), engines, antenna brackets through the coax ground... all show continuity between the battery return and ground. Same as I said on THT. The wire provides a lower resistance to battery return. Disconnect the engine ground wires and...

Re: Big alloy on Clist Seattle
He bought the boat less than 18 months ago for $110k or so... It was on the market for two years before the current owner bought it and trucked it to Idaho. I guess he figured it wasn't much fun in Idaho.
Air cooled Duetz diesels if I recall.

Re: Alloy on our docks
After watching the Bristol Bay tv show and looking at some of collateral denting, I can understand why they build thos BB so dam stout.
And then they put those tiny fenders all the way around hoping it will help?

Wow that thing is cool!
I haven't taken pictures, but there is a Munson drop bow sitting at my work shop..
Pretty stoutly built, nice weld quality... Definitely built to a bid spec though.

Not in the market for another boat so I did not pay attention to the sticker price, however a quick Google search yielded this 24 ft, 22 ft likely a little less http://www.boatdealers.ca/boats-for-sale/riverhawk-boats cheers Holy Cow that 28' is $$$, much more than my Armstrong even with exchange r...

Re: New Riverhawk Family Boat Build
That is the same issue I have with my diesel fill, and it is on the opposite side of the boat as the gas fill (However that helps me to never mix fuels!)
Either the builders don't think, or the assume you are filling up on a trailer.

Re: Bottom Paint on Aluminum Boat
Just a follow up.. I would not use E Paint. While I don't have any real fouling, I also burned through the paint in less than 130 hours running and keeping the boat in fresh water. I am having Armstrong fix the waterline. I went with the Aluma Protect, Pettit Epoxy and then another few coats of E pa...

Re: Bottom Paint on Aluminum Boat
PMed Bob about some advice on raising my waterline.
My Epaint has been OK in freshwater, but I need to go up an inch or 2.
I asked the Pettit rep at the show and now am more confused than when I started.

Re: Looking to redo thru hull fittings
That boat was pretty cool It was built by Armstrong before the moved to Port Angeles. I know they struggled at that time and I don't know why they moved. They still have some of the same styling cues. They sure have had their ups and downs. They seem to be doing pretty well now after a layoff last f...

Re: Looking to redo thru hull fittings
I stand corrected. I am unsure what the through hulls are made of. I assume they are aluminum, but there is an inline stainless steel valve on both the toilet and the washdown pickups. Both of my pickups are 3/4" I have no live-well. I need a good way to figure out how to winterize the pickup s...

Re: Looking to redo thru hull fittings
Poor english skills.
Kevin,
My through hulls are welding into the hull. They are described as being made of stainless steel on the bill materials. The through hull valves are also made of stainless.
I hope/assume that there is proper dissimilar metal isolation.

I "assume" Armstrong knows what they are doing, my two hulls are welded in stainless. Washdown and toilet. I "assume" it isolate somehow. I hope.

When you spend a few weekends and whole bunch of nights wiring in a loudhailer, search light, multiple GPS antennas, Class A AIS, work lights, AIS transmit antenna and a wifi extender... You start to panic when your electrical panel does weird things..

Re: Stray current/grounding question
No AC except for shore power. There are MOST LIKELY (I have not opened them up) capacitors inside the radar power supply and radio, I am sure they step 12VDC down for the circuitry. That tiny bit of stored energy is enough to keep the pin sized LEDs lit up on the Blue Sea switches. They stay lit for...
