Re: Modified Cope 36' Patrol boat build thread

Cope has a few new designs posted on his website. There are pics of another big offshore, similar to reelsong's but with a full cabin.

Re: Small cuddy?

Hey Tim: instead of cruising per se, you might consider just going camping and hauling your boat with you. It is easier on the budget if you go with just a day-boat setup. There are lots of great places to camp around here that are also at or near boat ramps or marinas with good fishing, crabbing, e...

I think you might be getting lost in the forest, Paddler. Sometimes the perfect is the enemy of the good. Go get something that suits your needs. Mike If I'm going to spend $100K(+?), I like to have a better understanding of boat structural design. Don't want to rush in and regret not having though...

That could be a great project for someone--depending on the price. But, given the way things went with Maxweld, you would want to be sure the seller actually had authority to sell . . .

Can you post more pics? We would like to see the front of the boat, and perhaps the arrangement of the seating.

Thanks,

Re: Small cuddy?

Thanks, jj. The Sea Ranger 21 HT overview page states boat/engine/trailer approximate weight at 4,000 pounds. With fuel and gear, I would be at max capacity. One thing that seems odd is standard fuel is only 48 gallons, while a Hewes 220 OceanPro is 85 gallons. I have decided not to worry too much ...

Re: Small cuddy?

In my mind it doesn't matter if .190 would be enough. If you try to sell a custom/semi-custom boat it will be brought into quesion. Right or wrong. Eaglecraft has had this boat for sale for almost a year now. http://eaglecraft.bc.ca/boats-for-sale/pre-owned-aluminum-boats-for-sale/2007-eaglecraft-o...

You might want to check with a member here--JJ225. He is currently having Wooldridge build him a modified 20 pilothouse.

Nice video Captain Dave. You know, they sell much bigger nets up here in the northwest. maybe we need to take up a collection to get Dave a bigger net!

Re: 24 Almar S/R

I don't claim any particular expertise--but I thought of a practical factor. Given what you like to do with your boat, would a water jet be particularly helpful? If not, I would lean towards an offshore bracket with some floatation, but perhaps not all the way down to the bottom of the delta pad. By...

Re: diesels

There is an English company developing diesel outboards for the military. It is an interesting design with opposed pistons in each cylinder sleeve. They claim it will be half the size and weight of conventional turbo diesels of equivalent power; with a power to weight ratio similar to 4 stroke gasol...

Re: New PNW boat builder--Allied Boats

Hi Jon: We love all brands of alloy boats, so don't be shy! Who is your naval architect? I think most folks who visit this site (me included) would be interested in the mid-size pilot house boats (22-26 foot). We would be very happy if you could let us know when you expect to have some of these boat...

New PNW boat builder--Allied Boats

The guys at Defiance Marine are now marketing their own line of alloy boats (Allied Boats). It looks like they have only built soft-top runabouts so far, but some 22 to 26 pilot house boats are in the works. Does anyone have the scoop on these boats? Are they built by someone else and marketed by De...
