Re: Desolation Sound in a small boat
I have photos but wasn't able to embed photos in the post. If you could help with directions I'll post them. I used a down bag as I find it works well even when wet and dries faster then a synthetic. This is just my experience, like to hear yours. I prefer to use a photo hosting site like photobuck...

Re: Desolation Sound in a small boat
Sounds like an epic voyage. How about some pictures?
You mentioned that you brought a down bag due to the fact that it would insulate if damp or wet. Did you mean a synthetic bag?

I like the roof extension. You probably mentioned this towards the beginning of the thread, but can you sleep in the cuddy? When will she see the water again?

Re: One, two, or emergency bilge pump?
The stove was a thought, but we didn't want to give up the room. We ended up with another bench for one person. I figured we would get a counter top electric toaster oven that we could use off shore power. The newer wallas is supposed to be improved. One big benefit of the Wallas is that their US d...

Re: One, two, or emergency bilge pump?
You should take a serious look at the Espar or Webasto heaters. They are much more reliable than the Wallas from my experience and many others. I have the Wallas cook top and a Wallas oven and they work most of the time, but can be fickle. My Espar has not required anything other than fuel. Have I m...

I am glad she is doing well. Things like this sure put things in perspective, eh? Give her a big hug from the four of us.
On a positive note, Big "T" turned another year older today and it is snowing! WTH? I still have another boat trip planned.

Re: One, two, or emergency bilge pump?
I think it more of reluctance thing, I ran into when we discussing the Cat as well. I am not too worried with 140 gallons (they bumped it up from the 120 on my request). Having moisture in my tanks is a far bigger concern for me. Keep working on them. I have three 135ish gallon tanks. I don't fill ...

Re: One, two, or emergency bilge pump?
Yes, 95% of the time we will be in Sound/Coastal Washington. We do plan on 1-2 month trip to Alaska in a few years. A fuel bladder would be the ticket. It seems odd to me that a boat that size can only accommodate one 120 gallon tank. Must be a weight/balance thing. I just hate carrying fuel on deck.

28'... It,kept the beam under 10' and the price under budget. As with every project we kept adding amenities till it got out of control. And then there is the 8% sales tax we didn't realize was on boats... Wherever we have lived previously, vehicles and boats were not charged the full sales tax... ...

So how big will the monohull be? Should be a nice setup. Several of the GC hulls were built by Armstrong.

Re: Wow...never seen these. I want one!
I've tried drums......can't find one large enough to fit the bottom end of a 225 Honda. But I will get one of these eventually. When I'm employed again. A friend of mine cut some pallets down to the proper dimensions, ratchet strapped them together, and lined the "box" with a tarp. He jus...
