That is a carbed motor - right? I can't remember if they built injected 130's. Anyway, probably some gunk plugging up one or more low speed carb jets. A strong dose of Seafoam in your tank might straighten it out but more likely you will have to do a proper carb remove/clean. Its not a bad job for a...

Our site has a pretty comprehensive list of builders here: Builder Master List If you want to stick with PacNW builders I'd suggest you look at: Rozema Boatworls Nichols Diversified Armstrong Northwind Maxweld (as you mentioned) Rozema is at the top of my wish list if I had the coin to get something...

Hell, I've been looking for an excuse to get a pressure washer for some time now. I got an estimate on having the hull sandblasted and it was $400, money I'd rather put towards having my own tools. I have a business account at a pool supply house so the acid's no problem. Is it just a pour on and s...

Any recommendations on how many psi is needed from the pressure washer and recommendations on which manufacturers kit you used? Also, with regards to welding an anode bracket on the transom, I realize the anode is aluminum, but what about the bracket, is it aluminum also? I would think it has to be...

I did a bottom job on a skiff very much like yours last year. In the first pic you can see the hull was heavily encrusted with barnacle. The right side of the hull has been blasted with a pressure washer with a sand injection system. Wet sandblasting is much gentler on the thin aluminum than dry san...

Likewise! Happy Independence day! Something tells me the Brits were happy to see us go, actually. Marina is putting on a big party also the little town I'm in does a great funky parade too. When it gets dark we'll buzz across the sound to anchor up next to the big Seattle fireworks barge . . . great...

I would suggest that if you go 4 stroke to not exceed the weight of the largest 2 stroke the boat is rated for. The other thing to consider is prop choice. Whatever motor you decide to put on just make sure you have a low enough pitched prop so that you can get up to full rated rpm when the boat is ...

Great sounding dish, only problem with it is you're going to have to catch 4 of those puny California halibut to have enough filets! :D :D Got to get you Cali guys up to Alaska for some flatties. Here's a small one, my kids first ever, 110lbs. Oh, the dog, Jack Russel with an anger management proble...

I recall having a discussion years ago with a reputable mechanic concerning a plan I had to do the same thing (for the same reason). He talked me out of it, something to do with ccw lower units being overstressed due to the thrust loads being applied to the reverse gearset. I guess they beef these t...

Re: DRIVER!
Again...OUCH!!!!! The closest thing I got to that was a 2/0 treble hook with an 8lb striper attached to it and drove the hook from the back side of my nail next to the first knuckle, then out through the center of the nail with the striper shaking vigorusly on the other end until the plug broke in ...

Dealers can do whatever they want, they or the factory they represent own the boat. Used boats being sold by brokers belong to private owners who have contracted with the broker (a listing agreement). The listing specifies the process a broker will follow in advertising and selling a boat, its a con...

Its up to the owner not the broker if there are going to be boat rides with no earnest money deposit. Most owners don't want their boats taken out unless there is an offer and a deposit showing serious intent. I know I wouldn't let my broker take anyone for a ride on my boat ride without that. Way t...

That is a screaming deal unless the motor has major problems so have a qualified Honda guy check it out. Some of the 130's had a block problem but Honda fixes those under warranty even if the engine is old. Some will say it isn't enough power for the boat but I disagree. I have a 90hp on my 21 and t...
