Re: paint or not?
No paint. But if the new rubrail is going to totally seal the alloy I would allow it a week or so in the air so it can oxidise before fitting the rail.

Pete here is a link to one brand http://www.godevil.com/GO-DEVIL_SDBoats.html Not saying there good or bad ...Just trying to show ya what they look like. Hey, Don & Les, thanks. Sort of similar to a lot of the "tail" boats in Asia. Get a car engine (small) & mount a shaft with a p...

Dave, ya should have asked me about em. Too late now.
They are made in Thailand. Keep the sucker out of the sun unless ya want a warped lid.

Hi Bob,
Great story. So this is the fireboat owned by the city FD?? Hope ya stood firm on the price. Was the maintenance issue a $$$ problem, laziness, or straight out stupidity.

G'Day ch,
Welcome aboard. Glad you found the place. I am sure that there will be some detailed advice along soon but there are a lot of "build" pics of large & small boats here to check out.

Here is mine. http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m31/peterbo3/DSCN2774Small.jpg Hooked up to a Furuno 585. I use the centre line 600W when cruising then swap leads & put the big boy into the water when I am checking out a mark. I can nearly count the spines on the fish. I use the 260 when I am d...

Re: Rebuild, with Corrosion Spots
Katoh, You have to get into the hull. You already have two holes in the bottom plates that MUST be repaired. Enlarge them to 200x150 (8"X6") or bigger & get the drain cam/lights/mirror in. Does not matter if you cut stringers or ribs as they can be welded back in prior to replating the...

Re: E & D new builds take a look
Good looking trawler. I ran a 46' X 18' timber boat down this way. 8V71. Great sea boat but refits were not cheap on a timber boat. Recaulking, sprung planks, copper clench fasteners to 2" planks, etc, etc.

Re: Rebuild, with Corrosion Spots
G'Day katoh, Welcome to the site. :highfive: :highfive: The fallen rivets.............if they are aluminium there will no electrolysis issues but they may jam your bilge pump. If they have a steel mandrel they will cause corrosion problems & will still jam your bilge pump . The fuel cell & t...

Re: looking for deck latches
Hi Rick, Could you look at fitting a better seal? http://www.mcmaster.com/#catalog/116/3441/=alu7x7 They may not have what you need but it is a start. A new deck latch will need a cam type lock to really get things tight. An oversize seal & some 4200 may be an easier option. Can you put up a pho...
