Re: Looking for go fast deep v center console design.
You might try Hunt (www.huntdesigns.com) they have a tremendous archive of designs. My (soon to start construction) Hunt design uses an existing hull design which then had a custom house, interior arraignment, etc. done for me. Our pilot boats are Hunt designed and they work very well in Gomex chop,...

Re: Found this boat gov auctions
Pros - Those boats were built by Seaark when they had a Commercial / GSA division, best part is they were designed by Hunt (www.huntdesigns.com) so it will be a good riding and seaworthy hull. Those hulls were engineered to pilot boat standards, meaning they are very tough, lots of alu. Cons - Engin...

Every thread like this further convinces me that injected foam is not a good idea for alu hulls.

Looks to me like the hull has a clear coat finish that has started to wear away.

Re: General opinion of Hewescraft Ocean Pro?
Kevin's points are excellent, as always. In addition to scuppers being high enough above the waterline, if the boat is designed with the deck sloping slightly aft that will help move the water aft (and out) faster. Also, if the cabin sole of the boat is higher, say 6" - 8", than the aft de...

Re: General opinion of Hewescraft Ocean Pro?
The scuppers on my 28' boat (which is approaching the final design phase) are 12" above the static waterline.

That's a tired looking boat, I would not spend a dime on it if it were mine.

Could be a good deal for someone, I would put a pair of Yamaha V-8's on it if I were buying it, don't see how twin
250's would move that boat without really working hard.
Photo's were all taken on the Gulf Coast, where is the boat now?

Must be using same NA, look how the lowest rub rail wraps around from the hull onto the outboard bracket - same on both boats.

Re: Narrowing it down
If ride is most important I would try to find a variable deadrise hull design, many aluminum boat hull designs are constant deadrise which gives more useable space but not as good a ride due to fuller shaped forward & bow sections. My boat under design is a variable deadrise hull because ride &a...

You also might consider a used boat from a builder in the second or third group as outlined above.
This will lessen your cost of getting a boat, and getting out of the boat if it proves to be not to your liking.

Have you considered going with a beam greater than 8' - 6"?
I currently have a 28' x 10' aluminum boat in the design phase, there is a huge increase in useable space.

If you live anywhere near a good ski shop, get a pair of custom insoles ($150 - 200 is avg. price) for what ever pair of shoes you
usually wear on your boat - you will be amazed how much they help.

What kind of fuel economy / range does it get?
Very nice boat.

How does wet wood allow corrosion to form / start?
Is it similar to what water and injected foam do to the inside of a aluminum hull over time?

Re: Interesting Boat
Protector RIB's are built in NZ and are very popular with the yacht racing crowd.

The hull form also reminds me a bit of the old Mod-VP class outboard race boats - essentially a v-hull
with a slot removed from each side to allow air entrapment.
