What are you guys sniffing? This is a terrible choice. Obama has served 12 years as a congressman or senator. I believe that this lady has been a mayor and govenor for a total of 6. I will vote for McCain, but he is the oldest candidate for president and she is by far the most inexperienced. And I d...

Interesting comment about rounded transoms being better in following seas. Never thought of it that way, but it makes perfect sense.

I have a feeling what is same ol same ol in your neck of the woods is brand new for us, and I for one am enjoying this new point of view.

I believe the Avet is about $370 new at Charkbait, and the rod I suggested can be had for around$120 at basspro. Then there is used.

But even the big ol 9/0 will only produce about 24 lbs of drag, so again that doesn't cut it.

An 80 lb combo needs to produce about 30 lbs of drag and a 113 or 116 will not get there..

In this case I would recommend an Avet 30W Pro and a shakesphere tidewater big water U. Stick, 5'6" XXH, with all aftco rollers.

Re: Foot Stops for Rowing

[quote="kmorin"]Bullshipper, you're completely right, foot boards are needed- but what I've been doing is to put my boots against the pipes of the next seat - its not the best foot board but has worked OK. I'm designing and building sliding riggers to go in this dory so I'm not spending to...

Just and idea, but you might want to add some foot stops at the main rowing station.

I really like your use of thinner gauges to get the weight, power and costs down.

I have always heard second hand reports that the accurates suffer from premature corrision problems, and now they claims 5x better corrosion resistance than any other reel. They also claim to use some 304 stainless, which is a no no with the chlorides in salt water. Have you had any of these problem...
