Re: 24 Almar S/R

Biggest (small) problem I seem to be having with the boat is the combination of self bailing deck/high rails, the fish is a lot harder to get in without a longer gaff or net

Re: replacing springs, and flipping the axle

I would come up with some kinda rod contraption on the axle pointing up and resting against the side of the frame. Then fit the rod with something that would slide up and down on it but have enough friction to only be pushed down closer to the axle by the frame. Drive around following your usual tri...

Re: 24 Almar S/R

That was my gut feeling as well. Used to run a Concept Designs 24 ft with a full cabin, Mercruiser 496 mag 375HP Bravo II leg 18* deadrise close to 48.5 kn at WOT. The new (to me) ride has a 14* deadrise which I thought (hoped) would be if not as fast at least more economical to run than my last one...

Re: Hello to all

Those #'s are with a 151/2x17 yamaha saltwater series II. Mounting height = anti cavitation plate 2" above bottom of keel. Thank you for that, finding the right prop what a pain in the arse. How do you find removing a heavy diesel engine/leg and replacing it with 1/2 the weight at the stern af...

Re: Bottom Paint on Aluminum Boat

Thanks, I like doing this stuff properly. BTW, can you get Vivid in Canada now? I was in a marine store in Sydney awhile back and the owner was saying that they can't get it as well as a lot of other good paints. Environmental regs gone wild! Run your boat down, I'll haul you out and paint it with ...

Pretty much year 'round, this year's been hit and miss fishing due to the repower project, usually we're fishing 100-130 days per year.

Re: 24 Almar S/R

After installing a 15.25x19P on the main and not getting more than 5000(barely)RPM at WOT, returned it and switched to a 14.25x17P which passed the WOT test with 6000RPM. Yamaha calls for 5000 to 6000 WOT. It is not the speed demon all my friends suggested it would be, and coming from the former 496...

Re: Is this fixable and what should it cost

After reading the whole post on THT I gathered a better understanding of what has happened. It is clear that the fault only resides within the fact that his boat should have never been allowed by his owner/operator at the time of the incident, to raft with a boat as big as yours without any type bum...

Re: Is this fixable and what should it cost

The way I look at it his boat was hit on starboard by your bow I assume?

That means you were approaching from a point where you were to be given yield, you know red means stop, so why should you be responsible for his not attempting to get out of the way.
Just sayin`...

good luck
