Wow. That is really cool that you got about 2mpg at 40 mph. Nice numbers! Congrats. Owner should be very happy.

Re: 20 ft center console
I think most folks would concur that 75hp is way too small for a 20 foot welded boat. But I can understand why you would want to put 75's on a fleet of boats to be used by folks of unknown skill and experience. For private use, a 150 or even a 200 with a 9.9 kicker would be about right. Very few fol...

Welcome! Ironwood makes some really nice boats. Unfortunately, he does not update his website much, so you will only find old photos there. You can more or less date the photos by looking at the outboard motors. There are some more recent pics of Ironwood boats if you surf around on this site. A bun...

I'm very happy I could help! Congrats on the new boat, and let us know what you do to it. I have seen several of those 24 almars out at Neah bay. they were all converted from I/O to outboard on a bracket. those boats are tough as they come.
Cheers!

Re: 58 foot Long Range Cruiser
Not sure I would want to be at the helm of that boat when in large following seas. I don't know about this new 58, but if you look at this site about "wind horse" and similar boats, they show them "surfing" in heavy seas, going up to 16 knots (regular speed is 9-11)! t...

58 foot Long Range Cruiser
A few years ago, someone posted some pictures of an 80+ foot boat called Wind Horse that looked like a mini plate alloy battleship. The story behind the boat was an attempt to make a super-efficient and safe displacement hull for long range cruising. I stumbled on this cool looking 58 foot boat that...

I love those Strikers. One of the boats also made a famous appearance in Caddyshack, as Rodney Dangerfield's power yacht, plowing through a marina filled with sailing yachts. :-)

thanks for the pics, Mike and congrats. You must be really stoked! When you get a chance, let us know how you like your trolling motor. In particular, whether you can fine-tune and pick your own trolling speed in the critical range for Salmon--between 1.5 and 3.5 mph.
Cheers!

ditto what Chaps says. I've been a long-time ferry rider and I have noticed, since 9/11, that the captains get really uptight if anyone comes within 500 yards.

Drop Bow? Do you mean Landing Craft? check out the picks of the bay welds. instead of a true landing craft bow, it has a normal looking pointy bow on hinges that provide a set of stairs for getting into and out of the boat. That would be very handy when there is no dock at your access point! Mike

Re: interesting 24 almar
Already been trading phone calls on it, Mike. Fisherman: How about some details? what is the true condition of the boat? What are you thinking of doing with it? would you keep the water jet, or change to outboards? Does it have the same deep v hull as the other almar offshore boats, or is it flatte...

Re: 31' Twin Yanmar 8LV's
I got to see this boat, and meet with Glen and Grant about a week ago, when I visited the Wooldridge Shop with my brother and my dad. I can't wait for the test ride, to see how fast this boat will go. The motors are huge! Our visit was very informative and Glen and Grant were both very generous with...

Saw an interesting 24 almar jet boat for $15k. It says it needs some attention, so may be a good project boat for the right person.
