Re: Bottom Cleaning

SB, The trick I got from several people was just to use straight bleach in a weed sprayer. They say that the pressure washer does not get it all off, and that with straight bleach it just falls right off. I don't have bottom paint, so I don't know for sure that it won't hurt your bottom paint, but i...

Re: Who's Going to be up in Alaska with Spoiled One fishing?

I was hoping to get an update on how the trip was going. Apparently Pete's high speed Internet satellite connection is not working this week. I was hoping to meet up with the AAB group, but that will not be happening. My boat is over in Seward, and I had planned to have company show up and run the b...

Re: Prawning and crabbing 2010 ECVI

Shrimping opens here on April 15th, and given decent weather, I will be out. It seems here we do well on steep slopes and pretty deep, 350-600ft. I am going out and staying out for 4 days, so hopefully I will come back with several thousand of what the Pacific Northwest call Prawns. I am envious tha...

jrogers. If you dont mind since they are very similiar boats and you have now owned you for a while would you have any feedback to help improve ours? Thanks, Russ Russ, I like your boats, and I agree that they are similar to the Seawolf. Hopefully I will run across one of your boats up here on the ...

Re: Decks

Just to add to the confusion, my boat is bare aluminum diamond plate and it seems to work great for me. Of course, I am pretty religious about keeping it hosed off since I don't want people tracking fish slime inside the boat. It has never seemed the least bit slick to me. http://i283.photobucket.co...

Is that boat going to Kake Alaska?? If so, it sure is going to look out of place there. They may have to get some new tires to line their fuel dock.

This took me a figure this out, but something seemed out of place when I started thinking of Lester as a Los Angeles guy.

Lester,

Is this a new sponsor of the site? Can you talk them out of any pics of their boat? Also, while you are sweet talking them, get me some coordinates of their top spots for the next time I am bringing a boat up.

In regards to the sales lady, you should tell her that the art of grinding down ugly welds is no trade secret. It use is so widespread that I am sure that it is in the public domain.

Kevin, Neat project, I am very impressed. A couple of questions, feel free to ignore if you don't want to answer. How may hours do you think you have into this project? My bet is alot! Also, you commented that you have built aluminum boats. Are you with one of the builders on the peninsula? Thanks f...

Re: Seattle Boat Show Pix

Thanks for the pictures. I have been looking forward to these for days. Keep them coming. I noticed that the Fishrite offshore (green boat above) is now a Sea Storm, where in the past it was a Sea Wolf. Is this a different model from them or did they change the name for obvious conflicts with anothe...

Trouty,

It is interesting to hear about your boat and the environment you use it, both on the roads and in the water.

Just curious as to your thoughts on painting vs. bare aluminum. It looks like this one is painted on the top but not most of the hull, or is that silver paint. Do you do your painting in-house?

Re: Takes a lickin' and keeps on tickin'

Thanks for the interesting thread. One of the nice things about aluminum is that is you want you can sand out the area where they ground it with finer and finer paper, and then polish it out where you can never tell any work was done to the boat. Of course this would be a total waste of time since i...

Case, Man, that is a lot of rod holders. I only get to use one pole per person, and I don't have near that many friends. So have you caught a tuna yet? I just saw a show on SE Alaska on whatever they show is with the Go Fisch (Outdoors Adventures?). They were at Pelican and Elfin Cove, and hit the K...

Jetty,

It does have an engine box on those smaller models.

Here is an example of what it looks like:

If that is a problem, the two options are to go with one or two outboards, or to move up to the 31 model that I have.

New Seawolf Marine Website

Seawolf Marine just put up a new website at www.seawolfmarine.com. I am especially pleased with this since my boat is the opening picture on the home page, at least for now.

And yes, I have already started the process of harassing them into a sponsorship AluminumAlloyBoats!

Re: Inside Passage 2009 fishing pics

Jetty, The coat rack is in the cockpit area, so it is a mud room on the outside of the nice area. The challenge will be to keep the blood and guts out of the cabin area of the boat. Even on a nice day I wear bib raingear to clean the fish and boots, and hose off with the raw water washdown and take ...

So Jim, how'd it go keeping wet gear and fish blood out of the cabin? It worked well (so far). I make a point of putting boots and rain gear on when cleaning fish or pulling them on board. I have a raw water washdown system so that I can hose the deck off before it gets too crazy. I am on...

Inside Passage 2009 fishing pics

I been out of touch for a few weeks, so I thought I would post some pictures from my trip. I went from La Conner WA to Juneau AK in 2 weeks, which was way more time than was needed. We did a bunch of fishing along the way. We were too early for the Kings (King Salmon for those south of Oregon), or t...

Thanks for the kind words and hospitality Bob. You have a pretty neat setup there on Bainbridge Island, being right on the water and having the time to do projects like your tow boat. It seems like all my motor problems are fixed, and I am anxiously awaiting the start of my trip north in a couple of...
