Re: Commercial Built Almar
Ok. So a few more details and a little clarification about the trolling gear. For $30k you get everything except the commercial trolling gear ( Gurdies, davits, mast, poles, hydraulic power pack, and EPIRB) and autopilot (Simrad AP24) So that includes: Electronics/Electrical: Garmin 3210 with gsd22 ...

16' Skookum
Selling my skiff to help fund the upgrade. It is a welded Skookum 16' skiff with a newer mercury 40hp efi motor. The motor was a 2010 installed new in 2011, so it has warranty threw April 28, 2014. The motor does have a little dock rash from being tied up to a piling. It was 100% fresh water when I ...

Re: Marine Hydraulics
So what does it take to get set up with hydraulics? I'd like to explore the possiblity of the following hydraulic system(s) on my next boat, but really don't know anything about them or what exists. Sooo...is it possible to have hydraulic steering, a hydraulic windlass, two hydraulic downriggers (i...

Commercial Built Almar
I have a severe case of 10'itis. I am looking into a 30'+ power boat for overnight trips and a full cabin with a heater for the new baby. This is a custom Almar that was built to commercial standards. The hull is 22' with a 2' swim step with a overall length of around 25' and it has a beam of 9'6&qu...

Re: Need a welder.
Well my boss ended up buying a Miller 252. I already have a Miller passport and he has a Miller Bobcat that is trailer mounted so we should have everything covered. Is there any secrets or tips for setting it up? I didnt talk him into a aluminum gun yet so it's only for steel for now.

Need a welder.
So I get to have some input on a new welder for the shop. We are looking for a single phase mig machine. I was looking at the Miller 212 Autoset. Is that a decent machine? Or is there a better option for that price range ~$2k? I am not a welder but I will be trying to use it. And I would like to be ...

Chad Crozier, Croziercraft, and Eric at Lee Shore boats have both done work in my boats and do this kind of work if they have time. Both of these guys are boat builders in Port Angeles.

Re: Insulated Fish Holds
I am trying to figure out how to do a fish hold in my boat right now too. I am going to finish off the inside with NON ALLOY and gel coat. The slick surface really helps keeping the scale loss to a minimum. I'm not sure how a more abrasive surface will do. I have been using half totes, but really wa...

Re: Price range for the Gov't rig
I'd guess a minimum starting point would be $4k
It would probably get more, but there is a lot of unknowns. And if it's worth more then it will fetch more.

Re: considering buying lund cc 1998 need help
I grew up on a 18' Lund with a 40hp. We beached it to fish the rivers in Alaska. It is fine for the salt, but we had to reseal the rivets about once a year. Easy enough with epoxy. So I would check for leaks by either putting it in the water or filling it up with water.

Re: My 16' "Slam Piece"
Yeah. Tried a ford for a year, but blew the turbos with 80k miles so I traded it back into a cummins. I average 70-80k a year. This was a off year and think I only put on 45k miles. By far the least out of the last 8years.

Re: My 16' "Slam Piece"
The well was built for two strokes, so it was too tight for modern engines. I tried to put a honda 20hp and it was too long front to back.
I would have liked to keep it, but modifying it to keep the well would have been soo much more work.

My 16' "Slam Piece"
Well I guess I'll post a few pics in here since I'm actually doing something now. My wife named her "Slam Piece" after Mila Kunis, I didn't want to argue so I am going with it. It's a 16' Skookum. It has a fairly thick bottom plate (3/16") so it should hold up well. It had a motor wel...

Re: Need Merc Control Box, but which one.
I'd want power trim/tilt. But the motor doesn't have a PT&T pump. The motor is going on a 16' skiff and I'd want at least a tach if I can fit it on the console. I will get some pics up when I get it back. Also, any reason why a set of honda control cables won't work? I have some control cables a...

Need Merc Control Box, but which one.
I have a 2010 mercury 40hp EFI (40el) Electric start without power trim or tilt. it has a 14pin plug under the cowl. I need to order a control box, but which one? They look like they come with a wire harness. Would I need anything else to be able to run a tach or a smartcraft multi function tach. Th...

Re: Which motor?
Well here is the motor. Everything looks good under the hood, there is a rub mark from being tied up along side a piling. I also have some pics of the skiff, but I need to have the motor well boxed in so that the motor will hang on the transom. It is too shallow, which I could fix with some trimming...
